Rock Werchter 2025

Green Day absolutely brilliant last night. Weezer and Wet Leg also on top form. Wall of death for The Scratch at the Slope at like 2pm was definitely one way to start the day.

 

Sad news about Fender, especially for my partner as it was the main selling point to convincing her to join me this year. Luckily she's a big Tom Odell fan so that helps a little bit. Mostly sympathetic for the day ticket holders, as losing KoL and Sam Fender does dramatically reduce the star power of that day. Do any regulars think they'll be rebooked for next year / year after or has the ship sailed?

 

Brilliant first two days though, going to take it a bit easier today. Really looking forward to Olivia Rodrigo after all the great Glasto reviews to finish the festival on a high!

What a place this is, expected to have a good time but it’s very impressive.  The main stage is well…. a main stage but the other 3 venues are brilliant, so impressed.  As @BlackFoxx said The Scratch early on were mad and the acts on the slope have generally been the most energetic.  Joey Valance & Brae were class on there too and covering 365 Partygirl was funny.
 

Shame about Sam but I just had to laugh at it last night, Yungblud headlining out of nowhere is funny.  
 

The after party at the hive was very fun too and never seen something the size of it for that sort of thing.  I am questioning why I needed to start doing jaegers at that time though.

The atmosphere at Green Day was excellent last night, we were in the middle of the first traffic light front section bits. I think for main stage getting closer might be better. Absolutely love The Barn as a venue, Warhaus (with Sylvie!) and Iggy Pop the highlights in there so far. Expecting a big crowd possible for Elbow today.

Been in the pit a few times and LP + GD have both had great atmospheres.  Still can’t get over Passenger in the barn, ridiculously good

I think KOL will as they are a bit more genuine, Fender is just a tit that has a history of it.

It's not completely out of nowhere, he was already co-headlining anyway with the same set time as Fender.

 

Glad you're enjoying it. Hopefully the lineup won't overall be a shambles next year and I can give it a go as a main festival with nothing in the way and more money behind me. Unfortunately a decent venue wouldn't make up for the lack of music to see....that's obviously a subjective point that falls better for some than others.

I think KOL will be re-booked seen as they gave plenty of notice and cancelled numerous shows. Maybe not at Werchter specifically, but I'd say a solid proportion of the festivals they pulled out of will re-book them. As boring as they can be, they do tend to be reliable.

It’s out of nowhere as he wasn’t even booked about 2 weeks ago.  
 

It’s not a shambles at all, but different tastes and some people will make the best of a situation anyway.

For rock werchter is is a shambles. Headliners wise 3 out of 4 is good, below that is drifts of badly. Today moreso due to the top line a repetition of bookings is one of the worst days ever in history booked for Rock Werchter and tomorrow isn't dead without Olivia for what the festival should be about. But horses for courses and if you're there you plough on. For a 50th anniversary compared to 24 and 23 it needs to up it's game again and they probably will after the pantomime of this year. They have to be selective with replacements as they have alienated two days apart from the other two too much which is a generally thought of situation.

I think Sunday isn't bad at all for what they were trying to do with the modern pop day. It has several pretty big names.

 

But Saturday is dreadful by any metric. Even with a pretty good Barn

Sam Fender is a liability. Last time I was due to see him at Sziget 2022, he pulled out as well. 😒

 

Then we had Holly Humberstone subbing. 😆

For all the problems and the not selling out, I was secretly hoping for a flood of tickets to become available this morning (Beth Gibbons being my only interest) and there were a few dozen but not for much cheaper than full price and oddly some even selling for more than buying from Werchter itself (don't quite understand that) 

 

All this to say, unless Yungblud assaults a crowd member and gives up after 10 minutes, the festival organisers will shrug this off despite the protestation.

I think Fender made calculated cancelation. Damiano and Raye in early spots (don't know why, way bigger than him) would attract bigger crowds and he chicken out.

Elbow… Knew only one of their songs, but what a show it was. Pure magic. Had a tear in my eye couple of times. The best set of the weekend for me (maybe yet, but honestly don’t know who’ll be able to top it today or tomorrow).

Personally after Dasha and Emmy D'Arc I had nothing until Olivia except maybe giving Wunderhorse a go. You don't need a modern pop day ar a Rock Festival, just booked it for a pop festival. Without Olivia then Yungblud even way over booked and Tom Odell is of far more interest than Sunday but both those days have massive 6 hours gaps in the day. After yesterday, the rest if a pop fest at a rock fest.

We don't need it to be a trend, we don't need a pop day. Why do you want a pop day, a bad pop day at that at a Rock Festival. Olivia has done a lot of shifting as the middle of the day is dead.

 

I think Oasis, The Cure, Mumford & Sons are big shouts along with a female front option. Maybe they finally get Billie Eilish. I also think KOL will be there and Lorde who I'd put under The Cure personally. But The Cure, Oasis, Mumford & Sons would be massive.

I've never seen as many tickets for sale leading upto an event as I did for Werchter this year. A lot of people tried to get out of it and move tickets on.

100%, bloke bottled it in the end. He was the most pointless and rubbish headliner they could have picked for a Saturday night at one of Belgiums biggest rock festivals.

Each to their own but they are one one of the most boring bands on the planet. If LP and Green Day didn't already smashed that to pieces then they went down a long slope after Download and Wembley.
