Why Garorock rules out bands for Werchter? Last year they shared Sum 41 or Yungblud.

Because they’re also playing in France on other days of the weekend too.  I suppose it’s close enough to switch but makes it more unlikely unless 3 days in a row or 3 out of 4 days playing.

The FAQ’s say no spirits on the campsites . Is that really policed?!

Think it's a blanket ban to stop people bringing glass. They give your rucksack a thorough look through as you enter the Hive to make sure none gets in. If you decant spirits into empty, similar coloured pop bottles, you'll be fine.

Kings of Leon likely for Lytham festival in the UK. Playing Weds or Thurs same week as this. Could they play here after, maybe a sub for Sam Fender?

Wednesday 2nd is the announcement for KoL in Lytham. So it is doable.

In 2022 I was attending festival where KOL were headliner and Fender sub. Things change that much last 2 years to be the opposite case?

Please no 🙏

I don't mind Fender, but KOL are super boring. Anyway, I hope we dodged that bullet. Can't see RW booking same headliner as Lytham

They've already booked Simple Minds who are also co-headlining a day at Lytham.

They are great live but unfortunately, Werchter never really books them.

That is actually maybe the biggest issue with Werchter in my opinion. With so many bands/artists out there (and I'm no talking about the more popular ones), they have a large tendency to recycle and revert to the same ones every time instead of booking something new. Pulp is just one of them, but a band like Biffy has also been mentioned multiple times. There are also hundreds more. I get it that some of the bands might not be as popular in Belgium as they might think themselves (and thus demand money for), but there can only be that many people that takes the X'ed number of KOL-performance into their consideration when booking a ticket as well, and they probably cost much more. It seems like it's much the same at Graspop, so it would probably be healthy for both to mix it up a bit, especially for those bands that can be acceptable as crossovers.

It's something that has always amazed be with Werchter and just look at one of the few slots for electronic acts as well. Now Rüfüs Du Sol are back after a short break, when there are multiple other options.

    • Remain self-imposed on not going north of a hundred, but... we're getting to the point now where the starting gun will be above that for some acts.
    • I'm finding the lower line up a little impenetrable this year   Any thoughts on heavier bands a la Slift a few years ago?
    • Will be curious to see how most of those shows sell. Surprised they're playing Leeds and Manchester - much as I am with Megadeth. (Not complaining, mind you.)
