I think Travis played Avalon a few years ago, it was a self powered gig or something I recall? , I reckon thats one the of biggest drop offs from headliner status.

They played Croissant Neuf, as a special guest anniversary celebration.

I do wonder how many headliners have come back to lower spots over the years? Discounting those who would then go on to headline again. (See: The Killers.)

Loads. Off the top of my head, Levellers, Radiohead, Pulp, Manics, Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Sinead O'Connor, Foo Fighters, etc.

I think at this rate the best 3 they could get is Sam Fender - Olivia Rodrigo - Stevie Wonder. Massive UK artist on the rise and perfect timing, massive current popular US artist and an icon. The 1975 seems a bit stale and a bit late, would prefer if they waited until the next album.

100% agree. 👍

what's the thought process behind coming into the 2025 headliners thread every day to moan about every possible headliner that's ever motioned? You're worse than suprefan

Having a look in the hope of a sensible suggestion.

Stevie Wonder would be okay if there was nothing better elsewhere. Lady Gaga would be superb and exactly what’s needed for a proper Pyramid party.

The criteria for good headliner is just whoever you personally like then? What's wrong with O Rod?

if it is the 3 you've been saying 1975, fender, Rodrigo.  I agree with the above comment that this is a very weak line up.
Are we basing these 3 on anything solid like a good reason as to why it would be them or is it just that they happen to be touring/releasing new music.   I know its all personal taste and Glasto is not just about the headliners but this is just disappointing, 1975 are not good enough to headline. Rodrigo i get shes big enough but again meh, Fender doesnt deserve the headline spot just because he's British and doing new music.

Of course 😁

O Rod okay , not my cup of tea but I can accept it. Fender would be a shockingly poor shout and adding The 1975 to that totally removes any musical diversity, for that reason alone I can’t see them doing.

Anyway thank f**k for WH who understand throwing a party, especially on the Sunday

Elvis Costello too.

And Ed Sheeran and Rod Stewart supposedly in the frame for next year.

Not going to sugar coat it I personally think that looks like a piss poor 'we are struggling and cant do any better' headline 3.

I love Sam Fender but headlining the Pyramid? Get a grip. There are many acts that should be getting that slot before him...  f**king hell even Becky Hill is bigger than him.

Olivia Rodrigo is not my thing but she is a massive world wide star. She is the only one that seems like a legit choice.

1975 are a bit meh

good chat

based on your personal tastes or size of the act?

well only on the assumption that Sam Fender is playing. Most people regards The 1975 as a good live act, I thought that's what you wanted?

Justin Timberlake, Olivia Rodrigo and Muse headlining Pinkpop (the Netherlands) the weekend before Glasto.

Can absolutely see them booking Justin Timberlake a decade too late, to play an hour loaded with new music to a disappointed crowd. Katy Perry all over again.

The most interesting person on that poster is probably Mika. Strong contender to be this year’s pop nostalgia act booked too low.

100%. Mika would be a great Pyramid act. I think Biffy headlining 2nd and booking Bad Nerves, Kid Kapichi, Amyl and Girl In Red would be good bookings.

The 1975 are a terrific live band. Still... At Their Very Best one of the most entertaining live shows I've seen this year.

No doubt they'd rise to the occasion providing they nail their selections - and think they offer plenty of musical diversity against Fender and Rodrigo.

People see it as weak because it lacks a current stadium headliner, for me. It's three acts who can sell out multiple arena nights in multiple cities on a single run, which basically equates to the job at hand.

Two are proven R+L bill-toppers - arguably the next biggest festival headline gig in the country to boot.

They'll be all fine - and as we say, there will definitely be something else on for those who don't find it to their preferences.

I think those are the ones being mentioned. Not sure there's any credit to any of them except Rodrigo considering she is free the Saturday/Sunday and is playing London on the Friday.

Dread it, run from it... Are Muse really about to headline the G in 2025?

Sidenote - amazed how high up Girl in Red is (although I think it's deserved)

Honestly think Rodrigo should be classed as a stadium act. It would be a great booking because it's possible she becomes untouchable levels like Taylor Swift on her next album. She sold out Hyde Park easily which is stadium capacity.

Can defo see it, no different to Coldplay doing it again. Must be G, R&L or BST you'd imagine?

I like Girl in red but thought her second album was woeful. Still want her at the farm though.

Fender and The 1975 both sold out Finsbury Park too, which isn't much smaller than the general concert capacity for Spurs, I believe, to boot.

They could all sell out a stadium show or two.
