They were really good in Manchester two weeks ago. This is definitely not how the whole tour has been. Clearly he's struggling and you can see it in his face. They should have postponed because he's clearly not at 100 percent or anything like it

I couldn’t think of a worse act to follow those Foo Fighters and Royal Blood performances than one who are notoriously dull live like Arctics are.

Even as a big fan I can't blame them.

I was one of the ones to walk out on Gorrilaz too way back when. That was awful too. Just didn't land like this hasn't.

I do sort of agree with you on that point. For me the last genuinely great album they did was Suck It And See. AM has to be one of the most overrated albums ever, and as for the last two…lifeless, plodding, self indulgent shite.

Elton John is 76. Nobody expects him to sound like he did in 1983.

People can forgive a bad voice, they can't forgive a lack of effort, energy and a poor setlist.

i would say despite elton not having as strong of a voice  anymore he still enjoys himself on stage and wants to make the audience happy.

 

So Arctics with Alex and a bad voice of Frank Ocean half assing his set with a good voice....

2013 was an incredible set. The right mixture between the old and the new Alex with the 2 best songs off AM played and the rest of the stuff was from their best era.  It was their peak imo. Same as kings of Leon in 08. Right before Sex on fire ruined them

Genuinely don’t think it’s anything to do with his voice why this set has been received so poorly. It is just a terrible set list performed in a terribly lacklustre way, even more so if you’re ill and NEED crowd involvement!

I think that the setlist is amazing. I don't want to see men in the late 30s sing songs from the first 2 albums

I'd make allowances for Elton in the same way I would Macca last year not to mention AM are about 40 years younger without a similarly unimpeachable back catalogue
