Crows Nest

This has been one of my favourite places in recent years. Seen some amazing acts - and I love the chalkboard announcements.

If you don't know what this is and have some time, head up the hill to the left as you face the park stage. It's a little gem.

Am I correct in thinking it's tidied to a particular record label (yes, I'm trying to pre-empt who might play this year!).

Managed to see Snapped Ankles in there in 2019 very late on Saturday night, it was utter chaos. For me it was the highlight of the entire festival

I wanted to go to that but I was broken and couldn't face walking from the other side of the festival. #old

I spewed it in the end as they seemed to take an age setting up.

Saw Self Esteem and Pip Blom there in 2019 - both were fantastic. Great, intimate little venue. Confidence Man there in 17 was a big highlight…

I am hoping for a Confidence Man repeat this year?

I saw Black Midi there last time, that was pretty amazing.  Have also spent time chiling outside it, they always have some pretty good music playing

Speedy Wunderground / Pias also heavily involved, I’m sure Dan Carey will be doing something in one of his many projects

Having never been as far up the hill as the Crows Nest, I think this year is the year to get it done.

The view from the top looks unreal at night. Is there plenty of space outside if its full or is it one of those where you need to be inside ? Would be shite to trek up at night if it was full and couldn't see/get in

There was sound clashing if you're outside but if they've moved other stages around, this might change things. Not sure how soon to get in, but they seem to have 30 minutes between each act which should help.

I've always got in - probably just ten minutes before each set is enough. But obviously if it's a biggie...

    • As someone that always likes looking at this stuff, compare the BBC opening titles...     ... and the ITV ones.     Tbf the BBC intro is better than the ones they used for the last World Cup, which I thought were pretty bad and on its own, the BBC choice actually isn't too bad. It's not as good as their pinball one for the last Euros, but the concept is reasonable. But let's be real, the ITV one is better.

    • Another new one from Overmono.   Album is shaping up nicely.
    • I'm only judging by highlights but considering that I saw a lot of anxieties from US fans about them getting it wrong after several bad results in the last year or so, they very much had it on opening night. Might be as much about Paraguay being a long way from the team that beat Brazil and Argentina in qualifying though.   Canada also doing something in a World Cup other than lose and arguably be good enough to have beaten Bosnia means reasonable start. Think they might regret not winning though.
