Anyway...I guess Hartlepool will maybe go tory...seems that is the way these ex industrial towns are going. Labour have lost Scotland, are losing Wales, are losing red wall seats...all they have left are the bigger cities...labour has to somehow attract metropolitan, liberal voters, and older, socially conservative voters in places like Hartlepool if it ever going to stand a chance of winning....and somehow convince Scottish voters to vote for them again.

You never know, it might not be completely done in Hartlepool yet. The Tory Sleaze story is having some cut through.

My partner works in the media and has had to do a bit of research into Labour to Tory voters in Hartlepool and something that's come up a few times is the idea that by going Tory Hartlepool is more likely to receive funding. Tees Valley Mayor is a Tory and is incredibly popular in the area which is helping as well. Starmer's doing badly at the moment no question about that but by elections aren't always a great indicator of public opinion or general election intentions, people don't feel like they're voting for PM as much as they're voting for local leadership.

Another story about Johnson, they are starting to build up. 

So he had two prepared responses and released the one that would match public opinion. Not surprised if he was involved in the planning either. Surely Perez etc would have known the UK government could get involved so they would have approached them beforehand. 
 

Perez should also know never to trust a Tory.
