He is kind of right about Kier but then loses his mind when he starts suggesting Labour isn't left enough 🙂 and that's where the votes are...

the voters dont trust labour to not go 'nutty left' piers corbyn doesn't help correct that.

As someone who felt fairly positive about Starmer when he was voted in this feels bang on:

has Starmer abandoned all the labour policies from the Corbyn/McDonnell time? Or has he just tried to do something about the accusations of antisemitism in labour, and to try and sound more patriotic? We don't know what his policies are, they maybe similar to Corbyn's. The labour manifesto was popular, you could see that in 2017...but Corbyn wasn't popular.

Anyway, labour is really going to struggle against Johnson's boosterism..constantly saying how great things are going to be...and over next few years things might actually appear to be great too as the economy rebounds and people get their lives back. It's going to be tough for any opposition, no matter whether from the left or centre.

tories might want to keep it as an issue, it works well for them...there are still negotiations going on now, despite brexit apparently being done. Starmer doesn't ever mention brexit, there's a reason for that.

Would the Tories want to draw attention to the fact that they didn't get Brexit done?

Brexit will only be an issue if people who are hurt by it continue making it an issue and if we are worse off then some may wish to re-join but I can't see that happening at the next election.

I'll be honest I have been steering clear of all political threads for a while because the whole thing seems so shit that I find myself wishing that some giant meteor would just collide with the earth and kill us quickly rather than this slow descent into hell that politicians seem to have in mind.

they might want to keep saying how unfair the EU are being...whether it's over trade, NI, or the city....or whatever. If they can somehow blame the EU for any brexit shit, that will help them.

You don't see much in the news about damage to businesses who do trade with EU, but you hear a hec of a lot about export bans on vaccines by the EU bastards. EU are no longer our friends, they are competitors..

I don't know because if they are saying they are unfair then you are saying the deal you said would be easy wasn't. You are saying that actually a large bloc of countries has more influence than one on its own. You can't with any credibility say EU was responsible for all your failings when you were in the EU and say it's still responsible for all your failings when you are out of it.

you can do all that when you have a right wing print media.

You can but all I am saying is it doesn't stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever and a half decent opposition would tear you apart if you did it.

would help if the corbynitasas didnt spend all their time slagging him

Aye, as someone who had (and still has) a lot of time for Corbyn I do find it disappointing that his supporters continue to play the man not the ball. Given that was one of the legitimate grievances over how Corbyn was treated it'd been nice if they could have risen about it, but clearly not.

They might, but so far he's announced nothing that fits that bill.

Most of the Corbynistas voted for Starmer to head the party. There's no bigger vote of support. The problem is so far he's offered them nothing. Policy announcements have certainly been limited for obvious reasons but we've not seen anything truly progressive from him as yet.

Fewer than one in 10 British police officers found to have potentially committed gross misconduct by the watchdog are dismissed, the Guardian can reveal.

Confused...  Did they or didn't they ?  It matters....

we will never know cause the police just brush these things under the carpet following nonsense "internal investigations". These lot are never held to proper account unless they're literally neo-Nazis or murder someone

Yeah you are right...  Better not to have an investigation and just sack anyone ever accused of anything...

Does the numbers of 1 in 10 being able to be investigated for gross misconduct conduct not cause you any concerns ? (Your numbers ) that’s a huge concern and really high and flags up warning signals to me that there is a fundemental issue ... in my working career I’ve not come across anything like that kind of % ... maybe that’s anecdotal? ... I’d be interested if you could find somewhere comparable

He hasn't announced any policies though...has he? Just some stuff on devolution. He has gone back on the freedom of movement thing...but not sure how popular that would be when people from all sides are calling for stricter border checks.

I thought Long Bailey was the corbynista choice...and Starmer was the remainy labour choice.

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.
