priest17
Usually these lists get me fired up and think how good the year was but I'm not really agreeing with any of these ahah. I either didn't have as good a year as I thought or there's stuff that's getting overlooked on these lists that I can't remember right now. I get the sentiment there 2 of my most listened to albums of this year are 2019 releases that passed me by at the time but you'd think it would be an honourable mention can't believe as a music journo I ever missed this and want to draw your attention to it rather than actually making it number 1. On that topic my honourable mentions for this year are Cut Capers - Metropolis and Liz Lawrence - Pity Party.

Yes I was surprised at that and Jessie Ware as that album got a lot of love at the time. I think it's been a really strong year without there being too many all time classics if you know what I mean. dentalplan
Louder Than War only putting Idles at no. 26 is the most brutal takedown of that album I've seen. 1

FloorFiller
Pitchfork’s songs of the year: https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/best-songs-2020/ Number one isn’t really surprising by modern day Pitchfork standards. I mean, it’s hardly the best song of the year, but it’s hard to argue it’s omnipresence over a lot of the year.

I thought I'd done a decent job of keeping up with new music this year and I've only heard of 16 of them, and that didn't include the song at number 1 which floorfiller described as omnipresence. I also kind of thought the no 1 song was pretty juvenile so I might also be getting old.
dentalplan
It is pretty juvenile but the way it fucked with that Ben Shapiro guy is worth every millilitre.

Quark
Winner or no I've got so much time for Burgess after this year. The listening parties themselves have been great, but the way he's then handled the social media side of it has been relentlessly cheerful. Top banana. 1
