Mask compliance was pretty poor at Frenchgate shopping centre in Doncaster today. I would say around 70% of people I saw had masks on but the biggest let down was the amount of people wearing masks who weren’t wearing them properly. Had them under their noses, under their chins, taking them off completely to have conversations. It was maddening.

6042 cases...numbers dropping...rule of 6 working.....or it's the weekend.

Hmm only 1/3 up since last week rather than the expected doubling in 7 days, hopefully a sign that R might have decreased somewhat

until they're all dead from coronavirus.

Would imagine most of the protestors aren’t in the risk group.

It’s like this everywhere now, (except for Asda).

Exactly why cases are surging.

You mean doing what their constituents voted them in to do? That's how democracy works, they should be listening to the public and acting on their wishes. Most people are sick of the measures because they don't make sense, won't work, and are doing more harm than good. They are misinterpretating the science and data and ruining the country.

If there was a vote to do with anything that impacts the public as a whole in a negative way, the majority will always vote against it, even if it is needed to protect those same peoples lives.

If the government had to put it up to a vote at the beginning of the pandemic if the general public wanted to go into lockdown, of course most would vote against it. Because a lot of people wouldn't have understood the long term benefits versus the short term inconveniences.

Besides the Tory MPs in parliament are more concerned with keeping their whips and standing in line to vote rrather than actually considering what is best for the people.

Understandably there's a huge movement against the restrictions that have been implemented, there's valid reason, it makes little sense, probably will make little impact, affect peoples jobs and businesses hours and the night time economy. But mostly those measure should be a mild inconvenience to people lives at best. You can still drink at home after 10pm (as stupid as that is) and the rule of six isn't much to ask for the majority of people, except if your income is tied to big events.

Ultimately the problem is the government will waste billions on private contracts with their friends rather than aid and financial help to cope with life saving restrictions. I'm sure if they focused of creating a load of safety nets for their citizens. UBI, or better sick pay or better Universal credit, Then more people wouldn't have a problem with tougher measures being introduced or even won't mind potentially getting sick as if you do there is more aid. Right now people won't even isolate when told to because they'll lose their income for 2 weeks or more.

TDLR: If we gave the majority the choice between greater public health with some restriction versus greater public freedom than people will choose freedom when in reality the real freedom would be living in a country where you aren't financially crippled in your economy has to shut down for public health

I'd treat that with caution. Kellow has a bit of an agenda.....he is CEO of a private Lab company touting for business. What he;s saying might or might not be true, but his motivation is selling his company's services.

You’d be surprised the idiots who go to these things

To be fair, my other half’s grandparents are in their 80’s and they are very pro herd immunity and anti restrictions. Now, they are healthy for their age so I estimate that they’d still have a decent chance at beating covid, but at that age, you can’t be too careful.

Well he's not in a position of power, unlike,

So if we are looking for agendas we don't have to look far with any of them, at the end of the day who can you trust?

Simply suggesting that people don't take what they read or, in certain cases, see, at face value.

Exercise a healthy amount of scepticism until you've had facts corroborated and viewed things in context.

To answer your question properly, you need to be very sceptical about governments, just look at history, more people have been killed by their own government than by enemies, as the saying goes, the price of freedom is eternal vigilence.

I would agree...........I think my point is that I believe Vallance and Whitty due to their positions and reputation amongst the majority to a far greater extent than some dodgy bloke off Twitter.

The key thing is that most of the medical stuff is beyond most of us and we have to make a value judgement about who to put a degree of trust in.

Sorry but I don’t think that’s the case, recent YouGov polling shows Brits are overwhelmingly in favour of the restrictions and would even go further.
