I wouldn't defend it...  I have no idea what happened?  Women being arrested is all the pictue is saying.

I don't feel a need to defend it.

I get the feeling you have an accusation to make.  Off a photo?

The police are making a peaceful protest by masked women violent after one of their own kidnapped and murdered a woman 2 weeks after they covered up his indecent assault accusation

Dunno what else you think I should think? The police have the power to allow rhe peaceful protest to go ahead. You saying they haven't allowed it over covid? Come of it.

There was a report saying there was no cases linked to the BLM protests but that was some what a stupid suggestion.  You can never tell where you get infected and we all know this.

There were no surges in cases after the black lives matter protests. Actually I went to the manchester one which was not heavily policed at all, most people wore masks, and actually the crowding wasn't too bad, and all went peacefully although I could tell there was a lot of anger. Some things are too important not to protest. A black lives matter or reclaim the streets protest is a lot more important than a sports event or any other "fun" outdoor gathering in my opinion.

Your doing a classic act of reading a poster saying one thing and then trying to stick a load of over stuff to them.  They won't stick well.

My comment was about mass gatherings.  The pros and cons of the police, this cause and the colour of the sky are all separate debates and issues I have lots of feelings on.

Right now I simply think we shouldn't be doing mass gatherings.

I haven't defend or attacked the police.  I can't do that off a photo.  I won't do if off a photo. Neither should you.

Ah so you're blaming the women on the peaceful, distanced and masked vigil.

She might have been doing nothing and the police have acted like arseholes.

She might have spat in their face and pulled a knife.

How could you possible know?

Is this what you want? A straw man  to burn 🔥 lol

I used to hate getting the Tube when I lived in London, my heart went out to people who still had to get it when the virus was kicking off and they were still squashed like sardines while knowing they were at high risk of catching it.

In Manchester they had these big cafe things where you pay per hour for infinite cake/coffee but the idea is you can use it as a work space and socialise at the same time. I feel such a yokel saying this in case it's well known in cities these days! What are these places called?! Think these will see a possible big expansion going forward with so many more people working from home, but wanting some human connections once or twice a week with others (though not an option for telesales or confidential data), unless maybe they had spill out private rooms you could use.

Your talk of the prospect of having to get up earlier has made me realise I've had to get up and start work earlier while working at home than I used to before the pandemic as nearly all my clients have wanted moving appointments during the pandemic! I've ended up working more hours, starting earlier and finishing later than ever before, and I haven't taken any holiday days off, so it's been quite a knackering pandemic for me, definitely need a break (and a hernia operation!) before returning properly to the outside world.

You mean like WeWork? That's the name of one of the companies that run that kind of service in London.

Definitely take a break if you can! I didn't until October last year but it did me the world of good. Burnout is a real thing.

Meanwhile, the company I joined as a permanent member of staff last year has just had a fairly catastrophic breakdown in trust and communication, possibly because most of the team are new to remote working. A lot of people have utterly failed to read each other's intent. I've never seen anything like it.

I'm resigning on Monday.

BTW, I've worked remotely successfully as a freelancer for 10 years, but I've always been on the periphery of office politics before. I can't help feeling that this could have been nipped in the bud with corridor heart-to-hearts.  But the situation is terminal.

Sorry to hear that, what's happened?

It would be Interesting to ask them how they would like the covid rules enforced without actual enforcement ?

I think the police should of handled the ranger fans, BLM protests and this vigal tonight with the same response.  That would be proportionate.  Either shut it down or stand back.

I struggle with demanding police enforce rules though and bark when  they do.

That's not the same thing and is an uncomfortable question for Khan and Kier.  Do you want the rules enforced or not?  If you ask someone to disperse and leave and they don't what do they think should happen?

And you can guarantee your last paragraph will be the Tories’ response tomorrow/all week. They are masters at shirking questions and responsibility - and Labour will be their target.

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?    Just had another thought - Or even rent the land to the festival for CV pitches.......
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
