Some food for thought

- on December 20th, 521,594 people had received their first jab
- 366,715 of those were over 80
- So 70%
- the number vaccinated now stands at over 800k - so assuming the proportion holds, 560k over 80s
- There are 3.2 million over 80s in the UK
- They made up 54% of the death toll of COVID
- for 17.5% of the over 80s have received their first shot
- Estimates for the protection from the first shot range from 50-70%

So if the efficacy is 50% I make it that would mean a 4.7% drop in the fatality rate. Already.

6.6% if it is 70% effective on the first shot.

Have had a couple of people I know have the app ping with instructions to self-isolate for four or five days despite not going very far. Does it keep track of where you’ve been without checking in?

Yep, if your phone bluetooth is on it will ping if someone who's spent whatever the set amount of time in close proximity gets a positive test.

That’s the attitude. Worth bearing in mind the vaccination rate is likely to absolutely soar in the coming month.

It doesn’t track your location, just your proximity to others with the app

Its not a given though. I know plenty of couple were one tested positive and the other negative.

Does your work not have a policy on what happen if one person gets it?

Slovakian Minister for Health believes Slovakia can complete vaccination of their population within 3 months.

Hmmm this doesn’t seem to be fair- giving vaccine doses by absolute numbers rather than a fair proportion of the population? So the larger populated countries are essentially penalised then?

Hopefully you’ll be fine, you’ve kept all the precautions so I’m sure that means you have a really good chance of not picking it up!

    • Yes, she can just do stadiums and she's probably one step behind when you could have anyway. How Reading works this year though both top two are headlining with Chase probably more a closer due to darkness after Florence. I don't see Wolf Alice in the part of a top 6. If they go back to pure headliner and subs then yes.

    • Wolf Alice are supporting O-Rod in America soon, right? So yeah, I think as a 1/2 that would work. But equally was there any talk of her doing more touring next year beyond her 10 nights at the O2 or whatever it is?   Certainly, I think WA might take a year off themselves in 2027.
    • They didn't. They pushed for Spain to be kicked out of it over this Cueta thing, although as is pointed out by Spanish experts, Cueta is not in Schengen.
