I have to admit it feels important, it’s the national sport and one that sticks out too when this all started. I know it’s elite rich people playing sport but it will help plenty to gain some happiness from an otherwise rotten year. When we have our PM lying to our faces at least we have a bit of sport to take our minds off things.

 

Liverpool will also win the league after 30 years too!

There are more tests being done now so more cases will be identified even if the total number of cases is still declining, as the number falls further there will still be some false positives from the testing, if you are testing 100,000 a day a 1% false positive rate would still give you 1000 new cases per day even if there was zero infection. I'm not claiming the test is that inaccurate (it could even be worse!) but it isn't 100% perfect - no test is, so there will be a levelling off at some point.

My thoughts too.  There was no other context to this at the briefing, and nobody challenged it as far as I saw.  One to watch.....from the safety of a sofa I reckon.

Key line is surely ‘figures now include cases among key workers and the their families as well as patients’

So an increase to the people included within the figures.

The important figure is the ONS one on Friday

Very good point.   Could be a 'blip' as we've seen with death rates when changed to include other sources 🤞

My sister got her antibody test result today and antibodies were detected (she is a nurse).

Luckily when my dad got a shielding letter she moved out for 12 weeks!

She had no symptoms at all.
