Yeah you're absolutely right, and tbh I think their last album's direction was more than likely a one off and they'll go back to the standard lads with guitars formula to keep everybody happy and still comfortably be able to headline R/L on the next one, but if not it may be a harder sell, especially if they decide to cull more and more of their older material from the setlists. They'd certainly be the biggest/most in demand booking the festivals could make, but if their next album is more mid tempo lounge songs then they may decide to play somewhere better suited for that kind of stuff.

If you watch their TRNSMT gig, songs like 4 Stars out of Five, Star Treatment and One Point Perspective actually seemed to go down really well, especially the first one which they opened with. The crowd sung every word, they also only played 4 from that album, and 5 of AM. Quite honestly no matter what there next album sounds like they will attract a HUGE crowd. 2 hours is enough for them to show off new stuff, Chuck a couple of TBHC songs in and smash out all their old bangers, of which there are so many it’s hard to decided which ones I’d rather seem them play.

on another note, seriously considering getting TBH&C in vinyl because the album is so brilliant

I mean, aside from the first 2 albums (kind of) they've never kept the same sound on an album

Who Monkeys?? I think AM is similar but not exactly the same as debut

I mean from album to album its usually a different sound. AM is much more 'american' and radio friendly than debut

That’s true actually, what would you deem SI&S then

Looking forward to next years line up

Biffy Clyro / Foals , Skepta

Arctic Monkeys , Tyler The Creator

Rage Against The Machine , Bring me the horizon

Going to be ace

if you look at Spotify TBHC did better then Suck it and see?

Personally love hits like TBHC, Star Treatment and 4 out of five, I think they'll be great to see live mixing in and out of old stuff and new stuff, different sounds.

Then to save some costs with The Vaccines slotting anywhere on the lineup then you've got a lineup

Apologies for the extensive list haha, notable omissions for me were Panic! At The Disco, Kasabian, Queens of the Stone Age, Eminem and (get in there!) Imagine Dragons.

For anyone who acc thought Capaldi/Courteeners had a shot at headlining, this probably rules them out.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Dave gets the highest % of the vote.

Very surprised about Blur, Florence and Gambino

I just did the survey.

My four headliner choices: RATM, Kanye, The Strokes & Travis Scott.

My four support choices: Die Antwoord, Bombay Bicycle Club, Enter Shikari & Limp Bizkit.

Four acts from their list: Tyler The Creator, Biffy Clyro, MCR & BMTH

These surveys have next to no bearing on what happens the year after and my gut feeling is we're going to have the same headliners with some changes dotted around the lineup including some bump ups on the main and R1 to cover for the acts that have to drop out.

Its very different

I understand your point, but there is simply no way I can agree with the bit in bold - their 2nd most recent album AM is absolutely HUGE amongst the younger crowd let alone the older stuff, which the majority regard as their best and rightly so.

Like yeah people would go mental for stuff like Mardy Bum, Fluorescent Adolescent etc. but you forget just how unbelievably big Do I Wanna Know, R U Mine, Dancefloor etc. still are to your average 16-18 year old - irrespective of TBHC or whatever direction their newer stuff may be.

Arctic Monkeys in my opinion are still comfortably the biggest booking R+L could make in terms of the widest appeal and the fastest selling day

Other than Drake only because he rarely does the UK and a day ticket would be cheap vs his shows. Still a gigantic booking for the festival.

EDIT: @Dim Sum TBHC did better than SIAS on spotify because SIAS was released when spotify had barely any users. You can't really compare

That list is way too condensed to just be random in my opinion. Not like Killers would play though due to their stadium tour example but I think the inclusion of Blur shouldn't be completely passed off like every other year.

I selected Strokes, AM, Tame and RHCP

then glass animals, brockhamtpon, vampire weekend and oliver tree

then the same as the top 4 except blur instead of rhcp

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
