Not just you at all Mich, they are a brilliant band & I dearly hope they`ll play & reckon they will! Would love to see them on next tour but put off by the 45 squid. Terry was ace with Fun Boy Three the first time I went in 83

Massively underrated, the FB3; great band. And of course ‘Terry Hall’s moccasins’ get a cool reference in this banger, one of my fave songs by my favourite band at the moment. It was produced by Carl Hunter whose new film Somtimes Always Never is brilliant and stars Matt Healy’s brother Louis and Sam (Ian Curtis) Riley.

4th/5th on the Pyramid seems possible, similar to Madness a couple of years ago.

I love them too and it's great that they've got an album on the way, but I think compared to madness their original members are a tad depleted - 3 in their case compared to the 7 of madness?

That would usually affect billing to some degree.

Only 6 of Madness at present - but your point stands.

I recall Terry Hall having a lot of digs at the band when he left in the 80's, saying they weren't the real Specials.

I've saw them twice since their return, the last time I felt they really miss Neville. Reckon I'd give them a swerve if they played.

When they reformed (minus Jerry) about 10 years ago they were superb.

Their Brixton shows were brilliant - as good as thirty years earlier but without the the treat of violence which i always remember from the first time round.

Interesting to hear what the new album is like.

83 was my first year too, remember them covering The Doors song ‘The End’. Saw Terry at Glasto with The Colourfield a few years later too. The Specials were the first band I ever saw, on the More Specials tour, haven’t seen them since but would be more than happy to.

Saw them at Glasto 2009 on the Pyramid. They were brill and took me back. They are doing a 40th anniversary tour in 2019  and Glasto dates are currently free. Maybe your wish will be granted ?

was that the year Lilly Allen played before them

I believe these days it's Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter.

I don't know what they'll be like live, as it seems most of the other comments here are from when the line up still had a further 3 of the  original members.

I've seen Neville a couple of times doing his solo stuff, a couple of years ago before the tragedy with his grandson and he was very entertaining.

Have seen them a few times since the initial reunion in 2009, last being in Coventry supporting The Rolling Stones in the summer. Even with just 3 original members still an enjoyable set, Gary Powell (The Libertines) and Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene/Paul Weller Band) are both great replacements to bring in. Do really miss Nev though he just brings another level of energy to the group.

Watched them in 2009 on the pyramid and Terry Hall showed he has a terrible liking for sherbet dib dabs.

Between most of the songs he went off stage and came back with white powder around his nose.

Therefore showing his his love for the dib dab.

he also sang every song off his auto cue.

Still a great set though ?

Think so, annoyingly they were on at the same time as Gaga on the Other. Our group was split down the middle, I went to The Specials and enjoyed them but still to this day wish I went to Gaga instead.

Loved the specials

love Lily Allen she is my guilty crush

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
