Well for me its my DAB Radio - it has a sleep timer function so I can catch something on Radio 4 extra { used to be called BBC 7 } + I have it set so that it switches on before all the alarms start ringing to countdown my next shift - I work some very odd hours and I would never hear the end of it if I missed a shift. Sure I could use a alarm clock but I need  Radio 4 extra to help me unwind - My Team used to think I was very strange but over the years many bring their own DAB Radio's to festivals.

I always found they were fairly decent at soaking the piss up.

My friend nearly overfilled a Toilet John in the tent one morning. Luckily we had an empty 1L water bottle, which she used to "decant" the excess. Grim. She clearly has the bladder of a horse. I'd have exploded long before reaching that point, after having 2 kids.

2 kids and a litre of wee all in one session, in a tent at glastonbury?  That would be good going!

What's the consensus on me filling one of those bad boys up so I don't lose my decent space at a stage?

Travel Johns are better for stage use if absolutely necessary i think.  They Gel up so the risk of a crowd pressure induced wee explosion is smaller.

Not *particularly* eco friendly though.  They're technically supposed to be landfilled rather than dumped in a toilet/long drop

Strongly considering taking a bucket/tub and a flannel(s) instead of baby wipes this year.

Baby wipes just don't cut it.

I agree.  I have a foldable pop-up sink i got from go outdoors.  Combined with a small camping stove and some biodegradable soap.

A roll-up piece of rubbery anti-slip material.  I tend to camp on an uneven part and it stops the sleeping mat sliding down (somewhat).

One year I brought a pedometer, out of curiosity.  I did 26 kilometres (16 miles) throughout the festival.

Works wonders! We take a small blow up kids paddling pool. Requires a bit of twister like action to get some parts but you feel pretty spangly clean afterwards.

I managed 58 miles over the weekend, with 14 each on the Thursday + Friday. How did you get around?

Oh my....  I come by coach, so no trips back and forth to the car park.  I do a fair bit of walking around on Wednesday and Thursday, but from Friday I watch as many bands as possible, and go between the Pyramid and the Acoustic a lot, which is a short enough stretch I guess.

You must have been using the 'monorail' :-)

We come by coach and me pal reckons we were doing around 14 miles a day. Defo on the Wed and Thurs. it's well easy to clock up miles there.

My phone tracks my steps/distances and was dead for half of the festival ...but on Saturday alone with my phone dying during the headliner it recorded 32.5km. Thursday Friday and Sunday I recorded about 25km a day. Including Wednesday I'm easily over 125km.

I have found these very reliable. However, last year I did have to briefly pause *ahem* mid-stream  to allow the crystals time to soak up the liquid. Handy tip: always keep a close eye on proceedings!

I am starting to doubt myself now. Maybe it was 26 miles, which is 40 kilometres. That's probably more like it. I remember I did go over to the caravan camping at one point to visit friends there and that was quite a trek. I also remember that in the same year I brought the pedometer to Roskilde and the result was virtually the same number, so possibly 26 miles, not km.....

I have recently started taking a camping stove and hot water bottle.

We always head back to the tents for a refuel in the evening, and before I head out, I sort out the hot water bottle and leave it in my sleeping bag. When I roll back in at silly o clock in the morning, my sleeping bag is toasty warm!

I also enjoy making the odd cup of tea/coffee if I'm slow to get going in the morning.

Make sure its fastened tight tho....

Yep - agree. Ability to control flow essential to success :D

    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
    • Glad I’ve still got it booked off for my 50th
    • That would be perfect!
    • If the festival was on this forecast for the end of the month would really raise the excitement levels 😊😉
    • I think their best chance is to get at Brazil. I though Casemiro in particular but the entire Brazil midfield was awful for the first half of that game, and if McTominay and McGinn press and run past them they've got every chance of getting the lead. You kinda assume Vini Jr and Raphinha will do something at some point in any game, but Brazil look like they're waiting for their stars to make something happen, instead of having a team plan.   I stand by my claim before the tourney that Morocco put 3 past Scotland, which suggests to me they need to nick a draw against Brazil.
