No new tracks dropped last night but an utterly incredible performance. It’s been a long time since I was so engaged with an act from start to finish. The set was more elaborate than at Glastonbury and because it wasn’t performed in daylight there was more scope to build the lighting and video as the set went on.

If she can put out a new album and get back on the road in time she would make a very worthy Other Stage headliner in 2024.

Terrific stuff!

Boardmasters seems to have split opinion with that bill, but can't argue against the headliners. In Liam Gallagher and Florence + The Machine, that's two safe-as-houses arena acts. Allows them to push for Lorde in that third spot, and thing she's got to the point where her stagecraft may deliver.

Split opinion? From what I've seen, it's taken a pounding! There some very unhappy 16 year olds out there

Going into this slot blind on the new record has been a blessing - some of these tunes deserve to be massiveShapeshifter is like a spiritual sequel to Supercut and Current Affairs has some proper wallop.

She will have done herself no harm in bidding for a first number one album over here. (Not that there appears to be much in the way of competition - but Solar Power posted a low-10,000 shift to debut below another week of Sour.)
