Looks like they've sort of decommissioned the slot to an extent, without a specific announcement as such. It will still exist of course but it peaked a couple of years ago.

No separate announcement like the last three years and not even a mention of it existing as a thing at all by Glastonbury themselves. Why would Barry Gibb or anyone not want a specific mention?

But to say that the slot is being decommissioned because it peaked with Lionel Richie is a bit of a stretch.  On paper, Baz is a good booking for it.

Ayyy. If anything they might have wanted to tone down the emphasis put on that slot, to stop embarrassing the acts who had to try and pull a crowd opposite it. No harm in that. But clearly it's still a 'thing'.

Clearly it's still a 'thing' but the fact absolutely no reference has been made about it this year is also worthy of note. I think they made a bit of a rod for their own back with Dolly and Lionel and are now trying to make it less of a 'thing' going forward to manage expectations.

It could have come from BG himself, trying to downplay it, ease the pressure on himself, last year was obviously him dipping a toe in the pyramid waters, being a solo artist is very different from being in one of the biggest bands of all time.

Anyway I hope he plays "You Win Again" - always loved that song. It was a very strange Number 1 - bizarre clanging metallic drums and no second verse.
