Was just looking at poster and came to this conclusion. First three lines are headliners, subs, 3rd down and legend for pyramid.

Yep certainly seems that way (with Stormzy being fourth down/Friday hip-hop act). Actually pretty obvious when you look at it but we were all so sure that one of The xx/National/Biffy would be headlining Other (+ Neil's Stormzy on Other info) which threw a spanner in the works.

I think Dental is right - if Katy P isn't headlining then it doesn't make a great deal of difference whether she subs or plays 3rd down. If Sunday is Gibb > Katy P > The xx > Sheeran it'll be a huge run of acts and that's all that matters. I doubt any of those acts would be jealous of the each others' slots.

No matter what your musical tastes, that run would be yugeee.

A couple of years ago didn't they put the listing of acts under the poster in some sort of running order? Could be done again.

Aye they did and it looks to be the same this year after all, although after Lorde it goes to shit as we already know Solange is a WH sub/The Jacksons further down are a WH headliner.

It's the same as the poster. Or it was, until they moved Halsey to be next to the other Premier League ref.

I think they could easily be third down really - they're really not that big of a deal anymore (are subbing fucking Two Door Cinema Club at another UK festival this year).

Yeah, was just with the facebook event, third may be a bit early?

Chic are Sunday so I imagine they'll be third down and Perry shunted over to Saturday.

Facebook event time is probably either a rough timing or just a placeholder (it says they're playing for 2 hours), and the start time of it is 8pm which is actually when the 3rd down act will be on stage.

Yeah I assumed it was rough that but didn't realise third down started so late

Are people really putting Katie Perry as 3rd, just because they are do desperate for The National to sub Radiohead, rather than potentially clash or play an earlier slot?

No - putting her third because it makes sense. I mean, we had Beck sub last year with Ellie G below him - how would this be any different?

It might be the case, but it just seems more logical that Katie Perry will be subbing to me. Wouldn't be surprised if The National were on earlier.

Could go either way really, but for now I'm sticking with the poster position theory of Katy coming after the three subs and therefor being third.

This poster is mega screwy.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Alt-J are neither subbing Pyramid or headlining Other. So...

PY: Radiohead, The XX, Royal Blood, Kris Kristofferson
OT: Major Lazer, Lorde,
WH: The Flaming Lips
JP: Run the Jewels
PA: Future Islands

PY: Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Alt-J, Emeli Sande
OT: BBK, Stormzy,
WH: The Jacksons
JP: Phoenix
PA: Warpaint

PY: Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Chic, Barry Gibb
OT: The National,
WH: Justice
JP: Metronomy
PA: Laura Marling, Cinematic Orchestra

Not hugely satisfied with my guesswork but hey ho.

As I've suggested in the other thread, I think it's fair to say The XX and Biffy are definitely subs so there's two ways to look at it. Either the poster is in order (like it potentially is with the Other headliners) meaning The XX, The National and Biffy are subs OOOOOOR it's The XX, Biffy and Katy Perry with the National playing third.

I know lots of people are saying that The National must third on the basis that they don't have the mainstream appeal of Katy Perry but it doesn't always work like that. Bands play on the days that they are available. Who's to say that Katy Perry is free on a different day to The XX or Biffy? Or that her booking agent didn't want her to play on the same day as Ed? There's loads of different reasons why a band is booked in X slot and it's not always about who's bigger.

I can't imagine many other people will be too happy with your guesswork for the Friday either.

I'm putting her as third instead of The National because of the following reasons:

- Always assumed the reason for The National not playing recently was because of them not being offered a good enough slot. Didn't think they'd return until they were given Pyramid sub or Other headline

- Katy Perry isn't your usual Glastonbury booking so could see her taking a lower slot than her size dictates, and an hour of hits in the sun from her would work well

- The xx, The National and Biffy Clyro are the first 3 acts after the headliners on the poster. Subs have always been grouped together after the headliners on the first poster I think

Well BBK are Sunday with Justice reckoned to below so The National aren't an Other stage headliner.

Alt-J is back to being Saturday Other which means Lorde can now be Saturday Pyramid.

I can see us having a name that stops any clash from The National, Radiohead and The XX as both Royal Blood subbing to ML looks right but so does Royal Blood 3rd on Pyramid to stop that triple run which I'd not think looks likely or be very Glastonbury.

I'm paying my balance tomorrow so a nice name in the morning to add to it would be nice.

Yes

this is what I've been trying to say

actually laughable that this is even suggested, I thought efestivals was a bit more advanced than this

Katy Perry is the biggest booking that glastonbury has ever had for someone in a non headline slot

so therefore she'l be in the position closest to headlining

subbing the Sunday, the position that makes the most sense

If that's so explain where the other acts are gonna play then Mr. Smartypants.
