Think I'm going to give this Milk Thistle a go. Don't get me wrong, I don't go to Glastonbury to get shit faced - that's what I did back in the day at Reading festival.

I love a couple of drinks, but am a complete lightweight and don't like being really drunk, just mildly merry.

That's why I rely on naughty substances to help me power through as I don't want to miss the evening's shenanigans, especially as I like a lot of the DJs playing late.

Perhaps though, it's time to simply accept that 1am will be my bed time in future. Getting old :(

I may be wrong, but I have a feeling milk thistle can interfere with the contraceptive pill, so if you're on that, better do a bit of research!

I have tried all different approaches over the years at various festivals, now I am 41 I just bloody well wing it. Going to try for the first time ever a noon start on alcohol although last year as middle class as it sounds a "Bloody Mary" helped most mornings. Food once a day at least and try for 5 hours sleep if possible (Nytol one a night) The bag of tricks needs to be used to maintain a level all weekend you won't hit the highs of Wednesday's first lift off. Although all that said I was in bed for 9pm last year on Saturday, after not doing any of the above......

just beer until about 4, then spirits are introduced in to the mix, then 'other stuff' around sub time in which case i either switch back to beer or just cut out alcohol all together and switch to water. i think the switch to water around then has prevented me from feeling like utter shite most following mornings, and also means i remember the nights!

at 38 years of age i must reluctantly concede that perhaps, maybe, my most hedonistic days could possibly be behind me.  but a good blow out every now and then is healthy for the soul if not the body and so at Glastonbury i get back in touch with my old Persian mates and get stuck in.  to quote the wise sage Jon Bon Jovi, i'll live while i'm alive and sleep the following week.

My plan for this year:

not get absolutely fucking battered on the Wednesday and make a c**t of myself at the efests meet.

eat some fruit during the festival, plus smoothies/juice etc

go easy on the Sat, i like Amy's idea above about keeping some pwder dry for the Sunday, especially this year

a sauna on thurs or fri to perk me up and give me some energy

But I do have one strategy that keeps me going all day - just grazing on drink rather than going on a massive bender. As has been observed, watching bands is a good way to slow down boozing.

And eat plenty and food and drink shit loads of water.

Yep, basically this. I do like to drink to reasonable excess all day Weds and Thurs, although these days I tend to have to pick a drink type and stick with it as if I mix I'm fucked. I work mornings Fri - Mon, then like to be mildly tiddled for the rest of the day, just wandering round with a pint or a glass of wine in my hand really. Frankly, I need to wee constantly if I drink too fast these days, which is just too annoying when I'm trying to see acts. Getting sad in my old age...

Every year i state i am absolutely not going to get tucked in until Fri.  But i have to accept that my last sleep and quite possibly last meal for 5 nights on will be on Tuesday.

Balls. Out.

on the fruit thing - i've made a habit of bringing thesee little fruit cups you can get (either with peaches or mixed fruits) and have them every morning. just eating something relatively fresh and healthy and full of juice after a heavy night does wonders. would highly recommend

The fruit or smoothy thing helps massively. One sunday i honestly thought I wasn't gonna make it out of camp all day - more through lethargy than hangover as such u Two large strawberry smoothies from a stand near Pennards later and i was good to go.

Quite often get the fruit cocktail in a hollowed out pineapple they sell between pyramid and williams green somewhere.

At the very least, i shall start each day with a bloody mary.

Agree on the switching to water later in the day. Especially if on other things and dancing madly for hours. Keep hydrated folks, you'll be grateful for it!

only little cans of kopperberg pear allowed before midday, then beer/ale from lunch to dinner time, then wine till it gets dark then shots. Planning on adding tactical coffees in the afternoon to get me through more of the night as naughties are off the menu these days.

Tactical coffees or pro plus are the way forward.

I eat about every two hours at glastonbury - so much choice and alcohol makes me instantly peckish and gives me a bottomless appetite!

Food is one of the highlights for me! Not eating a proper meal for five days would be a waste when there's such great stuff on offer.

I'm really rubbish at eating at fests, it so bad. Every year I say I need to eat a meal a day, but cider happens and I forget. I bring bread rolls with me, have one in the morning, maybe a banana, then that's it. It's so stupid. It's just I really don't fancy anything. This year I'm Defo (Defo) going to buy some decent grub. Make myself eat. I do blame cider, it fills you up.

always make sure i eat a big meal early-ish on for this exact reason - once i've been drinking for a certain amount of time i can often forget to do it all together as beer fills me right up, and if i'm w*nkered the last thing i wanna do is backtrack and sober up somewhat

That's so close to not being a metaphor.

Yes this is good advice, loads to eat early on will help, it's also good to look out for smaller food bits on sale and just eat more often if you don't fancy a full meal.

    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
