Charging my phone

Will there be a place this year where you can charge your phones? However the queues were always quite painful.

If not, is anybody able to recommend a reliable power bar I could use which would keep my phone topped up?

Thanks

I'd check out the EE powerbar thread a few pages back as there were some good alternatives recommended now it's being confirmed they've binned them off this year. Alternatively, just look on Amazon as there's plenty - just make sure they have a lot of good reviews and you'll be fine.

Or ask the lock up staff to charge your phone for free, that's what I normally do. I will be taking a power bank with me this year also though but it normally runs out early as barely anyone else in the group bothers to bring one

Thanks to a recommendation on these forums I bought this Aukey power charger: https://www.amazon.co.uk/20000mAh-Portable-External-Battery-Motorola/dp/B00SR5N5HU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1462908832&sr=1-1&keywords=aukey

it's brilliant! It arrive about 75% charged so I used it to charge various things to run it down and charged it up overnight for about 10-12 hours. Then I put it away. Got it out on Sunday and it was still fully charged six weeks on so it used it to re-charged my iPad.

I am very impressed especially as it's only £16.

Search Amazon for Anker 2nd gen Astro e5 there around £20 ish

I bought one last year after it was recommended on here, lasted the whole weekend, that was several charges of my own phone and a couple for mates. Excellent bit of kit it also has a built in led torch.

Yep that's the one I have (not sure if it was my recommendation which made you buy it?!) It is brill, have used it for a year or two now and its great, the kids can charge up their tablets in the car (you can charge two at a time) and because its 20000mah you get a good 5 or 6 full charges out if it before you have to recharge it. Just plug it in when you get back to your tent and leave it charging overnight. Full charge in the morning. And its currently only £16 by the looks of it. Absolute bargain

My girlfriend's mum bought us both a solar charger deal which you can also charge up before hand. It's worked great so far when we've tested it. I'd only need to charge my phone once over the course of the 5 days so that will do me nicely.

It's a similar thing to that, except she bought it in Honk Kong...dunno if that makes it any better but it certainly was cheaper :P

Only going to post this once this year, and here it is. Free fast queue free solar powered phone/laptop/ipad etc charging. Solar Energy Alliance in The Croissant Neuf Field.

They carry a huge variety of chargers, so you don't have to bring yours.

  There you have it.

(It is free, but Chris that runs it isn't averse to a beer, cake or any other treat as a thank you)

Couple of options that have worked for me. In previous years I have swapped my SIM card over to a cheap £5 phone from any supermarket. The batteries on these last forever, the Samsung I used to use was £5 from Tesco and after a week at a festival had only lost a bar of battery it was crazy! Downside (for me anyway) is that I couldn't access social media or take pictures, but as a means to phone and text it was perfect.

Because social media and photos are important for me, I now take my iPhone with an Anker 2nd Gen 16000. This happily keeps iPhone 5 topped up all week. This year I've bought an additional anker 20100 (£22 on Amazon) as I have my Fitbit to charge too, and I'm in campervan field so I'm away from plugs for two extra days.

The anker chargers are bulky so if you also want something to carry around site with you, there are smaller versions available that you can charge from the big one and take around with you.

It all depends on what you want, really!  The more devices you have the more power you will need. :)

How much you use your phone at Glastonbury essentially comes down to how narcissistic you are. Whether you're interesting in actually enjoying yourself, or just showing off to your friends and followers about how much fun you appear to be having.

Or if like me, you suffer from anxiety and need to check on your puppy every five minutes!!! ;)

I run a website for a living, so being able to log into the admin, answer emails, let customers know their orders are going to be a couple of days late etc etc is all pretty important.

I don't spend the entire time on my phone don't get me wrong, but 20 minutes of sorting the real world out each morning with a coffee is a must for me

    • I saw that the payment method is contactless wristbands - I understand you collect them at the festival site and can top them up there as well? Yes, there are top up points, keep the recepe if you want to withdraw the money in the end   How much does food and drink usually cost at the festival? We would like to know how much money we should prepare for the festival. Beer, Wine etc. 5€, Gin tonic, Whishkey Cola were 6-6.5€, food 10€    Is there a bus from the festival site to the city center? And are there any stops along the way? No offical info yet, but ussualy there are free festival buses from Ljubljanica to festival site, with few stops on the way. Nice to get to the festival but crowded from festival back to the city.   Where is the best place to find an Uber/Bolt to return from the festival site?
