Morning conspiracy theory fans....

Seems that the top two links for D'Angelo playing Glastonbury from Google News  HAVE BOTH BEEN REMOVED!!!

THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW

*Removes foil hat*

Maybe they just removed it since they are not sure anymore? :P

New theory.  Smaller stage lineups are coming soon and they're holding back D until they release the one for West Holts.

aye that's what I'm currently hoping/thinking. still weird that he was so prominent on the poster and that they managed to somehow post it by accident, but i'm optimistic he'll be on our final lineup

After never hearing of D'angelo (and not seeing any performances posted on here) I listened to Black Messiah last night. Not what I expected at all.... I thought he was a rapper, kendrick-lite so to speak.

The tunes were just all a bit slow for me really. I wanted something to pick up the pace and be a bit more funky. It was just all at one pace for me.

Overall, ok 6/10, but not that memorable to me.

If there is another album which is a bit more uplifting, please recommend....

Yeah he's much more of a jazzy soul and r'n'b guy.

Brown Sugar was the album for me, I used to put it on when trying to woo girls at my place back in the 90s lol. Never worked...

But anyway, maybe check that out. It's more laidback and sexy than uplifting though so if you're not into that then he's probably not for you.

It's kind of odd that you not only decided he was a rapper, but what kind of rapper he was too, before you'd actually heard of him. :P

Edit: Oh, the album title. I see what you mean now and would've probably made the same mistake.

Thats just not right. He started out as a neosoul kinda guy with the smooth brown sugar record but since then he has evolved into a friggin funk master. His live shows are out of this world and its impossible not to freak out dancning. People like Pino Palladino, Jesse Johnson and Chris daddy dave in the band makes it one of my favorite live acts ever.

Just watch this clip for example. Sugah Daddy from last year

I would say Voodoo is his best work (although all three albums are amazing). The songs are so densely layered that it's definitely a grower of an album. I would say its definitely in my top 5 favourite albums of all time. Also his band consists of arguably some of THE best session musicians about at the moment. Having seen him twice last year i can confidently say this will be the set of the weekend!

What the Fuck, GFL you danglers?

This would make me very happy, but the whole add / remove thing makes me very, very nervous!

God that's good. I will be really upset if he doesn't turn up.

I am hoping Neal is embargoed...

tried to find out what the score is with this one last night, and didn't get anything that was clear.

My own take is that it's happening, but I could be entirely wrong.

Thanks for looking into it- I initially read that as 'my own take is it's not happening' and was about to post by disappointment, ha!

so with James Blake and EW&F now seemingly taking two of the WH headline spots, and the Friday having a few options - i think Underworld - i'd say it's looking less likely that this is actually happening. guess he could possibly sub WH or take a Pyramid slot, but he really seemed like a WH headliner to me. and i'd rather he wasn't there at all than headline the Friday where there's already far too much going on

also apologies if anybody thought this bump was a confirmation or otherwise :P

Nah Underworld have to headline, and even then that's too early for them.

I'd guess they'll be on JP, which frees up the WH slot, unless there is a god and they're playing late night somewhere

Fatboy Slim headlining JP on the Saturday makes me think that Underworld won't also be doing it, so i'd say it's either WH or Sonic (which seems far too small)

edit: although i guess they had three dance headliners on Other last year so maybe wouldn't be an issue at all

just please, don't have LCD, Sigur Ros AND D'Angelo, the three best acts on the lineup (if he's announced) clash, for fuck sake

They are, and I don't think they would play that early here. It's just that it's not the case that they'll either headline or nothing.

I've made the parallel with Leftfield in the Sonic Tent a few times now, and to me it still feels valid.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
