I got absolutely fucking wet standing at the pyramid, I'm sure it was the tail end of Alabama Shakes, my phone suffered massively fatal water damage

I had to leave after realising we left all the windows on the tent open! Wont make that mistake again

I think I posted something a few pages back that showed historically the rain on the Friday amounted to 2mm in total.

I remember it being relatively heavy and lasting a few hours, but if some forecasts are showing 1.7mm across the whole weekend, or 0.1 or 0.2mm a day then that's just going to amount to a few showers here or there and will be irrelevant.

1.5-2mm a day would mean the ground would be absolutely fuckes though.

Absolutely fucked is a bit extreme.  It would be muddy enough to not sit down in most places, not totally churned up so clumps of mud stick to your boots.

That GFS run looking like an outlier. Much better now. The Atlantic low is a worry if this is what happens (long long way off). It starts much stronger and will cause rain in the run up and Thursday/Friday, but then weakens.

That clip of No More Dramas is probably the best bit of footage I've seen from last year's event.

Probably the single best "moment" from last year. Apart from of all of Patti Smith obviously.

As for the 2mm per day isn't much cobblers. That means showers throughout the day. Every day. Not able to sit down and getting sprinkled on from above. No thanks.

If you could run that forward for a few days it would likely produce a scorcher. And then possibly severe thunderstorms :P

Well its just started pissing down here. Should I do some Glastonbury prep by running from the Tesco shelter to the car?

Not here in the city centre

Seriously? I am 2 miles away and the heavens just opened with a biblical storm and a shitload of thunder & lightning.

I know it's early doors, but one thing we don't have is a blocking high over Greenland. This  would push North Atlantic lows further South over the top of us and, thankfully, it doesn't seem to be making an appearance.

This is the kind of hopeful and vaguely informed prognostication that I rely on this thread for.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
