Daft Punk 2017

Now i know Daft Punk are rumoured to play most years but as some people are already starting to suggest, 2017 could be the year that it actually happens and i think it is a real possibility considering Michael Eavis stating that 2017 will go ahead because they already have acts penciled in for it. Could it coincide well with the fact the duo said they won't be touring until 2017? A Headline Glastonbury slot would be a hell of a way to mark an 'Alive 2017' album following on from their Alive 1997 and 2007 albums if it happens!

What do you guys think about them taking the slot of the 1 act that hasn't already headlined in 2017? i know we have 2016 to get through yet I just thought the possibility is a good one.

I think the fairly muted response to RAM may affect some of their plans, would think IF (and it is a really big if) they do decide to tour they would concentrate on their own gigs, any tour would no doubt cost a hell of a lot to put on, and they would only fancy doing it if they were also going to be earning a load of money. I can't see them making it to the farm to be honest.

Can't agree. If they wanted to chase the money they would have definitely toured the last album (or at least done select shows). They seem to like grand statements and a Glasto headline would certainly be one of those.

I agree with that completely, i think there is nothing they like more than to make a statement and all eyes would on them at Glastonbury. Admittedly yes, it would cost the Earth for the show they would put on but is it something you would miss if it was there?

i probably would, given the other far superior acts that are likely to be on.

they're the very definition of style over substance these days. and by these days, i mean for 15+ years now.

if they make a "statement" at a festival, it'll be at Coachella with the added bonus of several million quid.

I personally don't think they will ever tour live again, I seem to recall that before the last album came out Neil had info very early on to say that they were going to wait to see what the reaction was like to the album before making any decisions to tour it, the reaction was largely muted and I just think they won't bother with touring again.

I'm a massive fan of them, and saw the Alive tour in 2007, I think any grand statement will be Coachella, or some huge show in Paris, I don't think Glastonbury is as important to these acts as people think.

This is probably true. Although, as you say, the response from RAM was rather muted I think it did get quite a big fanbase. To the point where i reckon if you asked the average person to name a song they would instantly jump to Get Lucky before anything, sad I know.

I think if they knew more about the hype around the rumours every year they might be more inclined but maybe with being previously linked to Coachella in 2006 and with them more likely to splash the cash than Glastonbury, we may not ever get a performance them.

Like many of the Radiohead fans on here however I will not give up hope!

Anyone watch the documentary on BBC iPlayer. I turned it off after 5 minutes.

I thought it was great. I got really excited around the time they started the Alive 2007 tour. It was an absolutely stunning live album. I wish I'd been there in Coachella, my jar would have been on the floor!

I thought RAM was alright, a bit too 'competent' mind, but it had its moments.

no chance, they will go for the cash.

if they didnt do glastonbury in 2006-8 when they last toured why would they do it in 2017? They chose O2 bloody wireless that year FFS.

having said that It happened in leeds, due to the Kaiser Chiefs, and thus I got to go. At least we have one thing to thank them for, getting Daft Punk to play in leeds!

Maybe they really like Leeds? They played there in the 90s.
