I have to say watching Simon & Garfunkel at Hyde Park in 2004 was one of the most emotional gigs I've ever been to. The wife and I spent most of the gig on the verge of tears. It was our first night out together after our first kid was born so we had both been severely sleep deprived for the previous month which may have had something to do with it. Those songs though, it would take a steely heart not to melt when there are 60,000 people singing along to the likes of The Boxer and America.

A decent rendition of For Emily Whenever I May Find Her would hit me right in the sweet spot. Might be a bit of dust in my eye if I see that on the Sunday, after 5 days of gin.

I saw him a few years back and his voice was still absolutely fucked. Unfortunately not fucked enough to prevent him from telling the most toe-curling anecdotes and reading some of the most feeble poetry ever written.

Sounds like a male version of Pam Ayers.

I may be totally misremembering this, but didn't he have specific vocal problem (actually Wikipedia says https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocal_cord_paresis)and that's why was doing anecdotes. Did you see him between 2011-2013? Wiki says his voice has recovered now.

Yep you're spot on, he was still suffering from it a bit. The gigs came about 6 months too early.

Though he did do a flawless version of for emily. But those poems...there was a reason paul simon wrote the lyrics. And he tried to claim credit for bridge over troubled water's success, because it was his idea to add the w*nky last verse apparently.

He wrote that line "I wish I was an English muffin, like to make the most out of a toaster" and didn't take a credit. He's more important than Nile Rogers.
