Gucci Piggy
Massive Attack were brilliant at Glastonbury last year, I thought.

DanielM17
Clearly it is not 100% but if it does happen then Primavera seems like a logical mainland Europe place to go.

You'd imagine one of the UK festivals would be Bestival although it's at the other end of the festival season. Perfect fit for LCD as is PS

Mad hatter
Hi I'm looking for a bit of advice if there is anybody out there who can perhaps help me After failing to get Glastonbury tickets last weekend for the first time in a few years we have been looking at a few alternatives and as we will be visiting Spain in early June Primavera Sound looks like a tempting prospect. Any general impressions of Primavera or thoughts on it as an alternative to Glastobury would be much appreciated. We are both in our mid 50s and love the theatre/circus side of Glasto along with the Green Fields etc as much as the music. Having said that we've never been to a festival outside the UK so that would be an experience in itself Also any advice on where to stay would be welcome Thanks in advance
DDave
I've not been to PS personally but I have been to Summercase, which was held at the same site. Green fields it ain't. Mostly concrete with patches of grass and one of the stages I believe is on the beach.Type in 'Parc del Forum' on Google images to get an idea of what I mean. Dont think there's much in the way of theatre/arts either. The focus is very much on the music. In terms of accommodation, we're in the Hilton in Diagonal Mar which is a stone throw away from the site.
jadel74
Yeah, very little grass and they definitely focus on the music rather than art/theater. If you're looking for a grassy arty festival, I'd recommend Bestival. Still in the UK obvs but they put a ton of money into the production and always seem to have really great lineups. Mad hatter
Thanks for the replies The lack of physical greenery isn't a problem - it was more the atmosphere at the festival that I was referring to. I guess what I was getting at is would a couple in their mid fifties feel out of place? Are there any UK festivals that it could be compared to? Its like reading when it was a lot more alternative, with a latitude crowd instead of kids. Its a good atmosphere but 100% music focused
AdamWillingham
Its a really good atmosphere. Very music orientated which isn't a bad thing as the sound is incredible. Seeing James Blake last year was a top moment for me.

DanielM17
In general I think that lineup is very good, but I don't see The Libertines being too likely. Add some Jamie xx, Todd Terje, Sufjan Stevens, Father John Misty, Frank Ocean and maybe one big big headliner instead of Libs and I'd be totally sold. johnybegood
Like last year happened with The Strokes and Ride, the name of Wilco has appeared in Barcelona (this time in front of the main train station). So I think that Wilco can be the 1st announced band for Primavera Sound this year.Source: http://www.mondosonoro.com/noticias-actualidad-musical/aparecen-en-barcelona-unas-letras-gigantes-de-wilco/ Edited October 14, 2015 by johnybegood
FloorFiller
happy with Wilco if they're playing, but surely not as a headliner? also, in previous years hasn't it just been banners draped over buildings with the band names on them? so might just be something else Wilco related (or they're just experimenting with mediums) edit: actually thinking about it i suppose they don't seem any more outrageous as a headliner than the likes of Ride. exciting. fingers crossed for a bigger name to be announced next (again, if this is Primavera related) Edited October 14, 2015 by FloorFiller
Dietediet
Looks like the Wilco thing is actually for Vida Festival. They're announcing a headliner tomorrow, and their site features a logo in the same style as the Wilco thing in Barcelona: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CRNTVrPWsAAOzQj.jpg

dentalplan
I'd still be pretty pleased about Wilco coming to Europe next year. Weekend after Glastonbury too.I'll happily take Sleaford Mods at every festival I attend for as long as I live.
