Maybe Florence & Stone Roses co-heading? Not my sort of night but it would at least add an extra headliner to the mix. Reckon there's any hope for RHCP seen as though they've already announced a lot of european festivals not including RW? Also, any hope for Green Day? I remember seeing them mentioned a while back but nothing since then.

The Stone Roses announced last evening 3 dates in Manchester, with a hole between the dates. Their touring company is "Man touring company". I don't know if it means that they are only touring near Manchester. A european tour has not been announced yet. So wait and see.

Concerning RHCP, the fact that they are not announced yet is a bit strange, because of the Pinkpop, RAR etc announcements.

Concerning Green Day, Andy Copping said Green Day were unavailable for Download in 2016. I have to check the reason he said, but if I remember well, they were not touring in 2016 (like the Foo Fighters, these words were in the same discussion).

I reckon one of the reasons Florence + the machine were announced instead of a "major headliner" was to debunk the poster leak which surfaced last week.... If they announced RHCP or any other band which featured in the poster, it might have fueled further speculation that the poster was genuine.

Good theory and quite plausible but to be fair, every festival has it's fake poster 'leaks' and rumour mills spinning. I'd be surprised if they genuinely cared about people making these things and arranged their announcements to counter them.

I'd assume most announcements are based on coinciding with large artist announcements/tours or to get interest going for early ticket sales.

I'd be amazed if Stone Roses only did Manchester and T In The Park. Hopefully get some European fests in there too! Guess we'll have to wait and see :)

I don't know, why RHCP are not announced together with the other Festivals. But I'm pretty sure that they will play more than the announced 5 Shows in Europe next year.

So I can imagine that they will be confirmed, when they announce more of the Tourdates for 2016. Maybe the other Festivals payed a bit to get the right for announcing before the Tour gets official. For RW this might bring no advantage because they don't have to sell Tickets yet.

It's just an idea to explain it. I really can't imagine, that RHCP are on Tour and RW didn't take them.

If those Rock In Rio rumours are true, then that actually makes them unlikely for Rock Werchter. All of their past European festival tours were barely 2-3 weeks long, so end of May - early July seems quite a stretch.

It could be NOS Alive or Super Bock Rock too !

Maybe things weren't fully worked out yet at the time of the previous announcements? There are plenty of stories floating around about RHCP being demanding, i.e. only accepting slots as a main stage closer. Perhaps RW has a major dance act ready for the day on which RHCP is available, and that is creating a deal breaker? I recall the 2014 timetable being delayed because KoL didn't agree with Stromae playing after them, and in 2013 Pukkelpop failed to book a big replacement for Neil Young because of The Prodigy not being willing tot give up their closing slot.

On the other hand, I suppose those RHCP gigs have been booked months ago.

Does he ever?

Why would they be announced now for Werchter given they did a strong pf announcements and Werchter had started announcing.

Quite simple really. Other festivals aren't ready to announce yet.

They're also playing Main Square in July which is usually quite late to announce.

Roskilde, Opener, Werchter and Main Square are at the same weekend. RHCP already been announced for Denmark and Poland. It won't be possible for them to play 4 gigs in a row. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they heavily rumoured for Main Square, which means they won't be at Werchter.

RHCP will play Opener on Thursday. Roskilde Starts June 25. - July 02. If they play MSF on Sunday or Friday they can still play Saturday at Werchter if they get an early slot at Roskilde.

First 4 days in Roskilde are only for unsigned bands, DJ's, young talents, that kind of stuff. Only 3 stages, no big names, no headliners. festival will really start on Wednesday. Used to be Thursday to Sunday. Now looks they change it slightly, so it is kinda possible for Chillis to play there on Wednesday, opener Thursday, Friday off, and then during weekend France & Belgium

But Werchter being in question clearly are as they have and RHCP weren't one of them. I'd bet FF and Editors/PJ are the last two for there.

Probably another announcement this Friday.

Not sure about that. It's a holiday week, and RW is usually reluctant to announce during those.

Regarding Foo Fighters: apparently Grohl has again said that the current dates are the last of the Sonic Highways tour. On the other hand, the countdown on their site is almost certainly pointing to a new album. Not sure what to make of it anymore.

I'm a bit unsure if RHCP would be a void headliner or not. I saw them at V a few years ago and they were awful, by all accounts I heard terrible things about there reading fest show.

Saying that though I missed there werchter headline show, friends said it was a fantastic set.

So I wouldn't mind checking them out if they headlined again.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
