What is the best or worst replacement act you've had?

 

Haven't had a good one myself but 2 bad ones:

 

Travis instead of Morrissey (Isle of Wight) and Basement Jaxx instead of Kylie

The Darkness instead of Bowie at Oxegen.

 

Darkness were entertaining enough mind you.

We had De La Soul replace Florence at Benicassim one year. Didn't bother me too much but our female contingent were fuming!

Good: Tom Robinson replaced the Coral at the BBC Introducing stage in 2011 I think it was. The Coral couldn't get there in time cause of the mud and Tom stepped in, great set!

They might have their issues but it is simple because U2 have made a career out of brilliant live shows.

Past their best now yes, but in their pomp their live gigs were magnificent

Can't remember that many replacements but I thought Coldplay were superb in 2005 after replacing Kylie.

I haven't much time for their music since, but A Rush of Blood To The Head remains a great album I think and they played the bulk of it.

 

Edit: I just checked and this is nonsense because Coldplay were always due to play and the elfin Miss Minogue was replaced by Basement Jaxx. Disgraceful that I got this wrong given it was the day on which the great term Gillespie'd is based

Back when I thought they walked on water, I was pretty sad at an avenged sevenfold cancellation, and even sadder when Bring me the Horizon walked out to replace them.

That was bloody awful. Especially as nobody had told me that Chromeo had pulled out.

I love Gorillaz. I wasn't there that year but from what I saw of their performance I think they weren't at their best (perhaps understandably stepping in at the last minute) and Snoop was not so good.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club replacing The White Stripes as a Reading sub was pretty low.

But The White Stripes came back the following year as a headline so all was well in the end.

When Reading lost Slipknot and replaced them with Bring Me The Horizon (touring their horrifically bad first album) and bumped everyone else up.
