most annoying camping neighbour

Even the thought of having annoying Glastonbury neighbours is exciting me. Give me trying to sleep at 6am to the sound of a guy off his trolly spouting shite over normal life any day.

Snoring is definitely the worst, every morning in 2013 it'd be continuous and it drove me mad. Will take ear plugs this time just in case. Saying that I've probably been an annoying neighbour at times so have no real reason to complain.

I had some neighbours that CONSTANTLY sang the War of the Worlds song all night and in the morning, they were always at camp like they never left and at 7am it's not what I want to hear.

Thank god for ear plugs!

& thank god for staying in pop up hotel this year :beach:

We managed to camp in a spot surrounded by very loud snorers last year. One guy was particularly bad and sounded like a walrus being strangled - the worst snoring I've ever heard in my life! Luckily I had some earplugs else I would have had to relocate the tent.

Snorers get a bit of a bum deal here. It isn't like they're deliberately keeping people awake.

I'd suggest if someone from another tents snoring is keeping you awake, you're not drinking enough ;)

They used to hand out earplugs from the info points, not sure they still do that. Just the foam ones, not as good as those from Boots I posted earlier, but it may be worthwhile asking if you're desparate.

I look forward to some decent kip at Glastonbury as in not next to my Mrs snoring.

I've never had anyone really annoying near me, but the last time I went the people around me were so anti-social. I tried to create small talk but they were having none of it. Personally I find that more annoying than people being rowdy.

Whilst sat around our campsite one morning something whizzed past my head, very shortly after Mrs Teamsofa shouts "Oof, what the fuck was that?" small pause whilst she looks at the object that's just hit her in the face.... "It's a lump of Brie! Who the fuck brings Brie to a festival and then throws it across a campsite. Brie, for fucks sake!" Another small pause.... "We're in fucking Somerset it should at least be a decent bit of Cheddar!"

We never did find out who threw the Brie.

Oi! Don't diss Somerset Brie, it's the best in the world!

I think the most annoyed I have ever been camping was at Reading in 2009. I got there really early as from where I was living at the time (Feltham) there was a direct train, and I had to wait AGES for my Watford mates to show up in their car and park. By the time we got pitched in it was 9pm on the Thursday and we were in Brown Camp, right at the end, next to the perimeter fence by the Thames.

A group of yobs decided they would walk away from their tents, about 10m away from ours, and piss up against the fence with regularity all day on the Friday to the extent that the whole place ended up stinking of piss by the end of the day. When we challenged them about it, they just told us to move if we didn't like it! What a stupid thing to do at a festival especially when there were (quite decent by the standards of the rest of the festival) portaloos only about 25m away!

As a light sleeper, snoring always keeps me awake but I appreciate that it can't be helped (so no offence to the snorers,I'm quite happy to use earplugs :music: ). Ironically, the rest of the noise tends to cover it up a bit - I find the constant bass rumbling and generally noise more relaxing than irritating.

me too. there's something nice about knowing there's still absolute chaos going on around you but you're tucked up warm in your own little pocket. never had any issues with sleeping really, and i am quite a light sleeper.

I'm a terrible snorer, my OH uses ear plugs every night.

I never use to give it much of a thought until I had to share a hotel room with someone with severe nasal problems once. It was horrible!

So apologies to anyone I've kept awake over the years with my snoring - however, no apologies for my witty chat when hammered at 6am, it's comedy gold. :)

One that still makes me laugh is when we were camping one Wednesday and our neighbours were giving it "welcome to party central yeah" and we thought great these lot seem like fun.

8am next morning as we're arriving back at the tent and talking quietly - "Can you lot be quiet?" Not so much party central as Horlicks and slippers.

Same people also very kindly (but condescendingly) said they hoped my wife "found whatever it was she was looking for" when she overdid it one year. Unfortunately not, she'll be there with me again this year overdoing it again.

That is annoying. It's one thing to be a boring, party-pooping pussy and another to be a boring, party-pooping pussy who claims to be partying really hard.

Ha, ha.

Sounds great that.

Was he wearing a fur coat as well? Got a picture in my mind now.

What a shout. I came back to my tent after the Stones to grab some more beer and head off and he was sat there in a kind of fur coat, top knot and his bongo. He proceeded to tell me I was looking 'sad or angry'. One of the weirdest guys I've met.

    • Personally, I do hope Fontaines headline next year. Feels like it's their time in terms of the contemporary element - I know 2028 could equally be but I think (and speaking as an old git) they are probably the most significant band to emerge for a good few years, and they've already accumulated 4 great albums, let alone adding 5th, to field a memorable setlist.

    • Alright fair, I thought she only did BST once. Though I do question how that type of pop show will translate to a stadium.
    • yeah, but I enjoy moaning about them too much so whatever I guess.   and besides... a few years from now there will be absolutely nothing on TV except for Coben based shows so I'd best get used to it...   🙂        (for anyone who has ever read a Coben book - are the books as utterly sh*t as the tv shows???)
    • Those in the Glastonbury ‘Tour’ thread buying tickets noticed it when tickets first went on sale.   And if you look at the blocks still on sale here https://www.axs.com/uk/events/1489025/muse-tickets?skin=theo2 blocks 410-414 definitely stand out as the only seating areas without tickets available, so appears that they still haven’t gone on sale.
