Nando's

Saw a quote recently attributed to Elmore Leonard "When you write, try to leave out all the parts readers skip" Wish George R.R. Martin had heeded this advice. For my tastes he spent too long describing everything, especially the all the different family standards.

Edit: Should say I did enjoy the books

What's your opinion on Tolkien then?

Do any of you put mayo on your chicken? If so, let me know so I can stick you on the ignore list for the rest of your life.

Mayo is horrific. Every supermarket meal deal for me is either a case of defaulting to a 'safe' option (Hoi Sin Duck wrap being the #1) or wasting time reading ingredients, usually resulting in things being slammed back down on the shelf.

I genuinely hope not and can't see it happening. Glastonbury is one of the last bastions of hope against the commercialisation of festivals. Having a Nando's would be akin to seeing a McDonalds Express popping up at The Park. Fuck. That.

I swear they used to have a Gourmet Burger Kitchen (chain restaurant) stand by the other stage. Not been there for a while tho.

The only thing I liked about v fest was the ability to get a large Domino's on the way back out of the arena At under a tenner it was a bargain.... dinner and breakfast in one!

I know exactly the van you mean, it caught me out as well at first glance as well. From what I remember it was there about 5 years ago, maybe a shade more. It definitely wasn't GBK, just a bog standard burger van trading off a variant of their name - think it had all the same words, just in a different order.

There's a pub up here in Gosforth called the Brandling Arms which does a tremendous selection of burgers. One particular monster is the 'dirty thoughts of Cheryl Cole'. It includes a Greggs Sausage Roll and Heinz Beans within it.... Byrons it's not, which is no bad thing!!

Sounds good. I've got all the time in the world for supporting original businesses, none whatsoever for pretending that the cookie cutter experience of chain restaurants represents anything other than eating cheap processed food.

    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂

Solo stuff , old BCNR stuff?    It’s only in November , it’s a bold booking to for someone who has previously had some struggles to come back and play a load of new stuff to crowds that big
    • Wow, Blink-182 back so soon. They’re the band they’ve never booked then. Great booking if they’ve got them.    Deftones, Papa Roach, Knocked Loose   Lamb of God   Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte   Megadeth   Slipknot, Gojira, Motionless In White   All Time Low
