No one has mentioned Pixies yet? Headlining or not, will they play?

I bloody hope so.

Having played 2 years ago for the first time in donkeys, i would be shocked to the core if they play. Would love it tho as i was at jack white last time and he was a right drunken mess

Could playing Glastonbury not actually help too? Big TV slot, R&L still 2 months after Glastonbury too do not exactly a short space of time.

I doubt it as subbing the Pyramid keeps them away from a big clash. If it wasn't an issue then why announced The Libertines who are bigger earlier than they did? Bottom line is....they should be subbing Reading and it doesn't matter how you try and dress that dress that up.

I disagree.

Having seen Foals at Wembley last week i think theyre now primed for the step up and the exposure of a glastonbury performance will only help convince people about their credentials. Festivals need to start bringing through smaller acts to headline. Ive respect for reading this year for trying to do just that.

Libertines day at reading sold out not too long after Glastonbury and i have a feeling that helped their cause. That was however easily the strongest day at reading last year.

Not sure I've ever dressed Foals up.

Agreed.

Is there a massive crossover in the amount of people waiting till April to find out if Glastonbury have Foals (any other act) who then decide to not get a R&L ticket?

Jeez are you so obsessed with the Reading/Foals thing that you have to go on about it in the Glastonbury forum? They're co-headlining with Disclosure and you haven't shat the bed about them, and they've got far less of a claim on a R&L co-headline slot.

It probably works both ways, some will be encouraged to get a ticket by their performance at Glasto and some will deem it no longer worthwhile if they've already had the chance to see them.

Ellie Goulding could easily sub Adele. If they're gonna go for this 'females in prominent positions' what better way to do it then a double bill on the biggest night of the festival?

Tame Impala into Muse/Radiohead with Bastille - Disclosure on Other

Ellie G into Adele, Kendrick - New Order on Other

Foals into Coldplay, Bring Me The Horizon - LCD Soundsystem on Other

Tame Impala into Radiohead would is a great shout and I do reckon that Tame Impala are definately big enough to sub the Pyramid.

The bit where you saying Wembley says it all, it was one 12.5k gig, not even two. One date like that does not prove anything when it comes to large sales, it wasn't even sold out and BMTH as a sub selling it out easy and what they are doing now goes to show how weak a booking it is.

The Libertines were coming off a new album, a strong day and demonstrated they could sell tickets before their Glasto slot and the sell out of that day only indicate it was doing fine anyway before that weekend.

Not saying you have, I'm saying it doesn't matter how you do from my view.

They could at a push, but I think they're far more likely to be third. If last years subs were anything to go by (and Foals seeming almost nailed on this year) they're going for big hitters these days

And you could argue, Adele headlining, PJ high on other, Haim being talked about as a possible JP header plus Ellie being say 3rd is enough for the statement to be correct.

I would agree that the statement is correct, all i'm saying is not to read too much into the statement itself and she said the same last year and I didn't notice that many women topping the bills

the highest a women got was Paloma 3rd down the Pyramid

Erm, Florence?!

in my defence i'm a moron and have a cold

I excluded Florence when I first looked at the headliners because she wasn't originally a headliner, then when I went back to look at the high slots I discounted her because i'd already counted her

I dunno the only one who seemed too big for it last year was Flo (and subsequently Libs). Pharrell/Paul Weller are hardly a bigger deal than Tame Impala

I'd have definitely said Pharrell is. Weller obviously not so much, but seems like he was a stipulation for The Who coming over. Tame Impala might well end up being a sub, but considering the names getting thrown about for those slots third just seems a better fit to me

    • It was never going to be great was it, there is comments of Mickey Mouse all over socials lol which is very similar to Glastonbury.  Someone I know from RIP watched Welcome to the Jungle and left and they went saying they've got to see GNR. It was the only day not to see out as well.
    • I decided to goto bed early for the Aussie game rather than stay up for Scotland. I don't regret my decision, I also love the complete over reaction during the world cup when a player has 1 good game, that Watford winger is now everyones dream signing. Its also funny when clubs get into the hype and end up overpaying for someone who then does nothing in the prem.
