Acoustic headliners

Pretty sure Neil has Moody Blues pegged as an acoustic headliner. I imagine Christy Moore will be another one, can't imagine where else he'd play, really.

I've been thinking for a while that Patti Smith could be an acoustic headliner, but she could also healdine Park or even play midday on the Pyramid.

And unless he was up against some huge names, surely Van Morrison would be too big for it?

Christy Moore

Bellowhead

Waterboys

would be my 3 guesses for headliners.

Sound more like Avalon headliners

My guess would be

Moody Blues

Ryan Adams

Patti Smith

Actually the only one I'm convinced about is moody blues. I'm thinking the other actual headliners might not have been announced. Or Van Morrison if he isn't playing the pyramid.

yup. That came from Michael's gob.

And I think the 3rd is Waterboys.

I don't think it can be The Waterboys if Christy Moore's Friday and The Moody Blues are Saturday. The Waterboys are elsewhere on Sunday and have said they think they're on Saturday.

Moody Blues and Waterboys are next to each other in the text line-up, which suggested to me they are both headliners.

Maybe Christy isn't headlining, then? That would make me very happy indeed. Any potential Christy/Hot Chip clash would leave me a dithering fool.

I love the old waterboiys, loads of t, but they just leave me a bit cold now, dunno why. Maybe I should go and see them, but they have a level of earnestness that i can't quite get on with these days. But they are my guitly pleasure, sort of. Mind you, given some of the posts on this forum over the last few days, maybe not that guilty, eh?

If the Waterboys are a headliner I expect I'll have to pass so I'm hoping to see them of an afternoon on the Pyramid. Hopefully they'll have an idea of all the talk of the Son of the King and play their cover of Purple Rain, which is really rather lovely:

Just to clarify this is the only song worth catching that little purple man for yes?

Surely Christy would headline. Tough choice for you there, not for me, not a hot chip fan.

Surely Waterboys are always Avalon headliners or Pyramid afternooners - they were the last time I saw some of their set anyway.

Yeah good shout that. Waterboys Avalon.

Waterboys Saturday would be perfect. Saw them at the Roundhouse a few weeks ago and they were brilliant. The current album is great, and at the Roundhouse they did all of that plus almost all the old hits and Purple Rain. It was a really good gig, a crowd of 45-60 year old grey haired men nodding and occasionally jigging about a bit.

In 2007 they headlined Avalon Friday, Headlined Accoustic Saturday and were 2nd or 3rd on the Pyramid on Sunday lunchtime. We caught Friday and Sunday and really loved them.

I doubt we will be so spoiled this time, as they are elsewhere Sunday night, but I think it's Dublin, so who knows, maybe another 3 set weekend
