Slightly embarrassing story.  We nearly got run over on the to the pyramid by a fleet of exec range rovers which we moaned about elitist VIP's, why can't they walk like the rest of etc. etc.

spg (poster on here) was nearly run over by them earlier, when they'd been on the way to the stone circle.

I was fully expecting a Horses set.  That's what they are currently touring with, that's what they are geared up for etc.  she walks on stage, I expect the classic slow Gloria intro and ..... bang straight into Privilege.  It was then a case of what's going to happen next!    And playing with a sore throat too!!

was it Glastonbury 2015 - BBC 2 Sunday 28th June -  18:15 to 20:00 or was it on a red button ?

I've been wanting to see Patti Smith for a good 10 years now. It was everything I expected her to be. Very moving and full of energy. Her voice is still incredible!

yeah she needn't complain about having a sore throat or her voice going or whatever it was - she really sounded great. and to think i almost decided to not see her because my back was giving up on me / i'd already seen her at Primavera. i would've been so pissed with myself

....I only own Horses but would very much like to get some more records. Can you guys make some recommendations please?

Depends a bit on which tracks you like best on Horses.  if it's the more far out stuff, you might like Radio Ethiopia (Pissing in a River is from that one) or Peace and Noise. If it's the more melodic bits, I'd suggest Easter or maybe Wave.

Gone Again is also very good, full of mourning, but includes Beneath the Southern Cross.

I must have seen Patti live about 10 times over the last 16 years (Glastonbury '99 being my first encounter), she really was hoarse this time - but it suits her.

Always has a great rapport with her audience.

Well that was phenomenal.

The contrast between her set and Lionel's slick, plastic set couldn't be greater.

TBH I think the combination of the 2 sets made it for me for the w/end it was a great Sunday afternoon :)

"Yeah I fell on my fucking ass at Glastonbury but you know why? BECAUSE I'M A FUCKING ANIMAL THATS WHY!!"

Will live with me forever.

Dude, me too man. me too..

Edit, would love to see / read an interview with her after, to see what she thought, coz it looked like she was buzzing, as buzzing as I was with it all.

"I dont give a fuck what anybody thinks, we're gonna change the fucking world"

These words will stay with me forever, thinking of getting them written out and framed for my wall:

People raise your arms

Feel who you are

Remember who you are

Without technology

Without governments

Without anything fettering your freedom

Feel your blood

Feel your creativity

Feel your mind

Feel your hearts

Feel your freedom

WE'RE ALIVE

Cross over brothers

Cross over sisters

Cross over

The simplicity of "Thank you Glastonbury, I had a great time" is all you need to know really!

As we walked to see the Smithstress we had to navigate through the huge, huge crowds of people leaving the Pyramid Arena after watching that Hozier that they have these days......the walkways were busier than at any other point that weekend.

Who does that? I mean, I can't even....

There are no words. But they were rewarded by missing the dalai lama guesting on the set of the festival so...
