Why bother?

That video is 20 minutes of someones time from a festival lasting 120 hours. So really, why not bother if you fancy doing it!? And if he's filmed more than just that one video, well why not, it's not harming anyone :)

They are both a great invention yet a curse at the same time. I've got one with my gopro, and got some great photos in front of the Glastonbury sign up on the hill (if I had asked someone else, they would have needed to be on top of someone else's shoulders to get the right angle), plus the wide angle lens on a gopro is brilliant. But in the middle of the crowd they are annoying. I'm happy to ask people to take photos, but most people are fucking useless at taking them (managed to get my whole body including shoes in the photo, yet missing out the entire scenery behind me), and there's only so many times you can ask someone to retake it before you gotta do it yourself anyway.

I very much doubt that was the only video they took. Often people like that are never off it, selfie everywhere, ruining views of bands filming entire songs... Just enjoy the moment people with a few photos to jog your memory. Memories eh, when did they stop...happening?

Fuck selfie-sticks. Such a great way to look like a moron and a self centred prick. They somewhat marred my experience of Rome and I will not allow them to affect my Glasto experience. Well done to the London National Gallery, who have rightly banned them, quality move. And to be quite frank their are 199,999 other people one of which could probably take a half decent photo.

That video of the guy's walkaround brought back lots of memories, really geared me up for the festival, thanks, yeti. Holding up a big iPhone during a band is obviously a shitty thing to do, but the guy walking around with a camera strapped to his head, not getting in anybody's way is not a problem to anybody. The bit where he tried every hand sanitiser pump made me smile, we've all been there.

A Tottenham fan wrote a great letter to his club basically saying how they were a danger in crowds and contravened safety regulations ect... and got them banned single handily. I wonder if we can do similar to get them banned from Glasto.

Because quite frankly fuck them.

Sure he may have taken more as he wandered around, as I had mentioned. I have no problem with that. I wouldn't appreciate it too much if he was infront of me using it while watching a band though. but then I also do not appreciate people being on each others shoulders infront of me or the flags. But when that happens I just move a bit either side if possible. There's no escaping the cameras and videos now. So I just find quiet ways of dealing with it. Including where I choose to watch a band from. I like to be by the v shaped barriers. It's a great view from there.

Indeed, theres a quite of great stuff like that over the web and it makes the winter months and the "Glasto is soon!!!" excitment months easier!!! If someone wants to take time out of their festival to do something cool, that the rest of can enjoy year around! Fair play!

Even Selfie Sticks, I can see the point of them in some situations and yeah maybe they are bit vain...but its down to the people who use them more than anything else. If they wasn't flapping a selfie stick around and not facing a band while they were playing, then no doubt would be doing something else equally as annoying.

I don't own one and I will never own one but as long as they don't continually interrupt my view then I'll live and let live. I can understand why they annoy some people though, why people have a need to take continual selfies is beyond me. What ever happened to asking someone to take a picture of you? I doubt that the festival will ban them, and to be honest I can think of other things that should probably be banned before selfie sticks

Well done Coachella and Lollapolloooooza for that matter! Great decision from the promoters the other side of the Atlantic. Sniffing out the potential problem!

I think Glasto should highly discourage them to be brought.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
