Vampire Weekend announcing an arena tour caused me and my wee cousin to have a bit of a snigger in their direction. They had no chance.

They played Portsmouth Guildhall as a warm-up show and it didn't sell out until a couple weeks beforehand

I remember being very surprised when I saw it. But the MEN looks pretty full for when they played it.

I'd love to see them get given a good mainstage slot at R&L but with the way it's going it just isn't worth hoping for.

Yip. BSC blew Alter Bridge off the stage. They haven't been that good since. They did an arena tour pretty much on the strength of that support slot. As for where their fans are? Watching Slipknot probably. Alter bridge are quality. I can't see them ever being a draw at R/L as it heads ever more to being a pop festival with its mime acts and play button pressers but as for technicality and talented vocalists then there are very few live acts that can compare.

Yeah I'm not trying to insult the band or anything when I say they have no fans. I've just never ever met anyone who likes these bands, and it's not like they're super old bands or anything. I look through a Download lineup and every prominent band on there I'm sure I know several people who like them, but not BSC. Never met anyone who likes BSC.

I suppose I would count me as a fan although I sickened myself of them after seeing them live loads in 2 years so have missed their last 2 gigs that I could have seen. They are playing Glasgow whilst I will already be at Download which has pissed me off a bit as I'll probably go see Slipknot on main this time. They are another band that have peaked though, They're on the way down again unless they can pull off a special album but if the last was anything to go by then that ain't happening. Too contrived, rock by numbers, over produced and just plain meh.

I saw Black Stone Cherry at HRC, it was quite funny. Not the worst main stage filler out there though.
