2015 releases you're looking forward to

been giving it a listen this morning and it's not quite as boring as i initially thought, but towards the end of the record it does all start to blur in to one. the songs just aren't as memorable this time round imo

 

To be fair they set the bar pretty high with the previous two records. Fingers crossed for the new one.

 

 

In other news Bill Ryder-Jones (formally of The Coral) has a new record out in November. His last one was great!

Fair enough. I thought otherwise as they were saying on Twitter last night about the new album being completely unrelated to DC/not being tracks that didn't make it. I guess they would say that though

it's possible they just recorded a bunch of tracks with one album in mind and another bunch with a totally different album in mind. hoping the new one sounds totally different (well... as different as a Beach House album can sound from another)

I liked the subsequent album. The new one, less so.

 

U.S. Girls' album is fantastic.

It's split up into five acts and two disks for you. Listen to it in chunks if you don't like going all the way through. But the way the album's put together means that cutting it down just won't work. Dunno why you'd want to cut down the album of the year, anyway.

OK - have spent a bit more time with this album this week, and yeah the standard is pretty high for a 90 minute long album.

Yer man's got a way with a pop song, and this is very much the PUNK ROCK E-STREET BAND ticket.

Currently listening to the new Keaton Henson album, 'Behaving'. It's a personal listen or 'bathtub' music as my mate calls it.

 

Perfect for when you are flat on your back in a field cloud watching, or indeed in the bathtub.

Anyone had a listen to the new Hurts album? 1st impression is that it is not as good as the 1st 2 albums. Just does not seem to have the immediacy of the previous ones. Will give it a few more goes though.

Same thing but he has swapped guitars out for ambient electronica. Not convinced I'd want to stand in a field and watch him but would certainly listen to this new album on my ipod first thing whilst recovering in my tent from the night before.

The new new Beach House album is quite good, it grew on me more after the first few songs which is the complete opposite to DC! 'One Thing', 'Common Girl' and 'Rough Song' were particular highlights.
