What are peoples plans for Thursday? I'm going to head to Eats Everything at the Blues I think from half 1. Depending on my mood. If I plan on pulling an all nighter. - I'll be there. If I pace myself (well - pull an all nighter on Friday and Saturday) - I wont.

That Moxie affair with Bashmore/Orbison/VynehalI is the one for me. Il probably go to Genosys for Bicep earlier in the evening, might not head up to Stonebridge until nearer 1, might not be so busy by then (I think it'll be rammed)

Though, Troxler b2b Tiga at Melt the other year is a great set, I listened to it back afterward and it's definitely something I could enjoy, i shall see. THERE'S SO MANY OPTIONS

Im starting the afternoon with some Ruf Dug at the beat hotel at 13:30 for some disco bangers, then on the night heading to prosumer b2b honey soundsystem followed by bicep at block 9, then heading to stonebridge for moxie & friends for a few hours then ending with eatsy on the blues stage as hes stated hes playing a bangers set which i do not want to miss!

There's a ridiculous amount of clashes for me across the weekend, main one being Hot Chip remembers Prince @ block 9 or maceo plex into mano le tough in the beat hotel?!

aye that one's a shitter. was originally planning on seeing Hot Chip as me and my friend are huge Prince fans, but considering i'll be coming from the John Peel after Sigur Ros it just makes sense to go to the Beat Hotel instead of the opposite end of the site

i was out both weekends after Prince died and there were several Prince tributes of nothing but his stuff played all night, so I've had my fill, no point really heading to that at Glastonbury.

Thursday: Moxie, Joy O, Vynehall, Bashmore in Stonebridge. might do Heidi in the Beat Hotel or Maribou State b2b Pedestrian in LBHQ before it.

My mates all want to see Underworld. I am prob 70/30 Sigur Ros over Underworld, but I want to see the Prince tribute. I think its doable from the WH, not from the John Peel... so Im thinking Underworld (who I will enjoy) are the better option.

what's The Cave like? only passed by it last year, would like to see Perc&Truss and Sunil Sharpe on Saturday. hopefully it's easy enough to get into, and dark and dank inside for some banging techno!

I went in last year, it's got a mad trippy reversing water drop feature just after you go under the waterfall, it's all very strange. It's good once you're actually in there, I didn't hang around much, it was some fierce reggae/DnB that was blasting in it, but Sunil Sharpe is definitely an option

What kind of tunes are eatsy bangers?

I fancy a big of Ruf Dug though, then Baggy Mondays, Mark XTC and finish with A Guy Called Gerald in the Glade.

The best house music for me all weekend will be at Glade Spaceport on the Thursday. For those that haven't experienced back to basics before, seriously go and check it out!

Would definitely reccomend! I always end up in there as for some reason the queues are always much shorter than anywhere else around that area. Never waited more than a few minutes even at peak time. The layout is really cool, usually more of a reggae or DnB vibe when i have been there - not a massive fan of either but always had a good time.

Also got a cool outside chill out area at the back with some of the best toilets on site (but keep that quiet!)

I NEED HELP!

My dear disciples of the Electronica/Dance thread...

I am calling on you to help me out!

I'm desperately trying to sort out my best options for night-time electronic happiness and am getting bamboozled - partly due to my ignorance of some of the artists on the magnificent line-up and partly as there seems to be too much I would like.

The Brief:

I need some brilliant guidance as to what my best options are for Thursday - Sunday nights, after the headliners (I have a pretty consistent bands-all-day, dance-all-night policy).

You know what I like by now:

  • Techno
  • Bleepy and minimalist is best!
  • Not too cheesy
  • Don't really do DnB, but can manage some jungle
  • Do like the acid side of dance life

I'm pretty sold on Ben Coda in Glade Lounge 0145-0300h on Thursday, so that would finish off that night nicely (in terms of acts on the line-up as it is all until 0300h - then I can bimble)

But I could really do with any other Thursday ideas and LOTS of guidance for Fri/Sat/Sun

So, quote me dance happy, m'lovelies!

:)

Ben

Question: (thought people here would be best to answer this :P ) when going in to a late night venue do the 'bouncers' or whoevers on the door give a shit if I'm absolutely off my nut? Like if my jaw is resting on my shoulder are they gonna deny me access or be dickheads, or is it generally a 'if you can look after yourself it's fine' deal? Always been paranoid about it even though I'm unsure if i should be as obviously a large portion of people are in similar if not worse states

You'll have no problems at all if you're still in control of yourself

Friday, Im going to the Prince tribute, but Maceo Plex then Manno Le Tough in the Beat Hotel would be good for you. Especially if you see Sigur Ros

Saturday - I think you'd like Dave Seaman in Glade Lounge or Mr G and Joey Beltram at Genosys

Sunday - Dubfire in the glade early on then Ben UFO in the temple look like your things to me.

I had taken a load of acid in 2011 and had the revelation that as the wind blew, some flags were blowing in the exactly the same direction. The bouncer types as I got in the Shangri La didn't seem to mind me explaining it all to them... or they were just being friendly as I was well off it.

I had a whale of a time, but things got strange.

Benjamin, do you like a little bit of disco/funk thrown in amongst your techno action? If so, Seth Troxler b2b The Martinez Brothers in LBHQ is really going to be something great, I saw them play together in Subclub, and it was a lot of good fun.

You might also want to check out Paranoid London, they're playing in the Spaceport, they'll blow that place away I suspect

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
