They're not going to repeat Metallica, two years in a row without an album is just too much...

Muse and Foo Fighters as certainties I guess, now it's waiting for less hardrock minded fests to announce their headliners.

Lenny Kravitz looks like a strong sub to me. With Incubus, Eagles of Death Metal, Rise Against, ... RaR and Der Ring are providing us with smaller possibilities as well.

Also, Lenny Kravitz is apparently not in the list of names for Der Ring. Doesn't change that I'm still expecting him for RW or TW Classic.

I agree with Gossard, looks believe at a glance but then having U2, The Black Keys, Jack White and Weezer all on the same day just isn't going to happen. Jack White would at very least want to sub and so would The Black Keys, they've had rows before so no chance will either play below one another. Otherwise I'd take it, some decent acts there headliners are perfect really.

I don't think it was ever an option but you can rule out Linkin Park, they have been announced as a headliner for a festival in the U.S. the same week-end as Werchter! Some leak already stated that they will be in Europe around mid-august.

I agree its good news. The bad news is that its a new festival and if they want to make a splash it might prevent other bands to come to RW. last year few bands from US' Firefly festival proceed straight to Europe (and RW), now they can stay longer in the US.

With some of the biggest festials worldwide, it would be a bit dim for bands to ignore them for America, unles they'd done them the year beforehand.

In saying that, new festial, I can see Metallica headlining.

The difference from the past years is the advantage of Glastonbury. Unless there's a whole lot of money involved, Glasto will always win the competition over those American fests, and then it's easy for RW to pick in on it.

I think U2 is unlikely. You can say Coldplay instead of it. U2 would prefer Classic.

Will The National still be touring next summer when they've done festivals the past two years and their O2 Arena gig this month is the final one of the Trouble Will Find Me tour?

I doubt it, apparently they already looked completely worn out during their Summer shows. I'd say back into the studio and possible RW coheadliner in 2016.

Some more news from the Belgian front: the Rotselaar (Werchter) mayor said that both TW Classic and Boutique will take place after RW. So the 'huge act only available during original RW weekend' theory isn't ruled out yet.

And supposedly the currently announced Metallica shows are their only European festival dates.

I think the huge act is Foo's. They playing America on 4th July, are doing Euro fests before that, so would fit into the slot.

No they are done for a while.

I suppose they could do festivals next year, but I'd consider it unlikely. Shame really.

Bono said it to an English station they want to do indoor shows. Oer the album touring cycle, they may do indoor shows, but will also do big outdoor shows. Eeryone is hung up on them and only doing indoor shows.
