looks like that's a special build stage - so probably AC/DC's own still can't see them not bringing their stage - and so that makes Glastonbury less likely I think, perhaps Finsbury or Hyde Park would be able to put in their stage?

Ah fair point, if that's the case then I can see them choosing BST.

BST seems to be stealing a lot of Glastonbury headliners in recent years, I think it actually might hurt the festival a bit. Glasto is notorious for paying less, so I can see a lot of massive bands choosing the money if both BST and Glasto offer them a slot.

But that's a Robbie concert. :P

I think them doing their own shows in lieu of festivals was always gonna make Glastonbury less likely unless it's a special case to them and they can squeeze it in as well.

Stadiums would be able to host their stage wouldn't they? They're playing Stade de France in May and unless things have changed they should be doing Wembley and Hampden.

There's an interview (in French) here with the Hellfest boss. Says he didn't think it would work financially or logistically, tried his luck anyway but the band wanted to run with a 'central stage' which "eliminated festivals". I don't know if it's just a dodgy Google translation or does it genuinely mean they want the stage in the middle of the crowd? Either way it ain't looking good.

Sounds that way doesn't it? A U2-esque stage structure.

So aside from Wembley, where else is looking good for them?

I think Muse may well play the Friday. May be wrong if they're just doing all the heavy festivals but I wouldn't be surprised.

Convenient reason for the organiser of Hellfest to generate wriggle room for the fact he couldn't book his top two for their 10th anniversary.

He's not exactly going to come out and say they were asked but neither AC/DC nor Metallica wanted to play.

But the stage show was the main reason people thought they wouldn't play initially! All that this Hellfest guy has said seems reasonable and Eavis said the other day that he's booked 'a heavy band' perhaps meaning there isn't both Foos and AC/DC. Sadly, I don't think there's much left in this rumour.

All I'm saying is that I wouldn't classify the demands in the same bracket.

Msr. Le Hellfest "would you like to play Hellfest?"

Acka "can we bring our stage?"

Msr. Le Hellfest "non"

Acka "in that case non"

Mr. Eavis "would you like to play Glastonbury?"

Acka "can we bring our own stage"

Mr. Eavis "nope"

Acka "hmmm...well seeing as it's a one off... "

I say wait until the tour is announced in a couple of weeks. See if there's a glasto shaped hole.
