Also a lot of people (myself included) who don't know what really went on other than the fact that a man pleaded guilty to accessing a site containing indecent images of children. In whatever circumstances this may have been - it just seems wrong that he's been given the chance to headline Glastonbury.

we do know what happned tho? he was investigated, arrested. then cleared. The police obviously couldnt find anything on his computer. He admitted accessing the site to prove that british banks were supporting this. If he was actually a peadophile then he would be in jail. Simple as

Didnt realise there were so many operation Yewtree detectives on here! Alot of people thinking there experts of the Justice system.

It was Operation Ore, but don't let that cloud your assumption that there aren't any people on this forum who actually know what they're talking about.

> doesn't know what went on

> wants a petition stopping them from headlining

I know the basics of the story but it all sounds very dodgy indeed. If a man of the street did what Townsend did, I'm sure he wouldn't have been let off so lightly.

I don't want a petition to start as they're largely pointless - my point was that if people made one for Kanye for no real reason, then then certainly have one to start one for The Who.

How about

A. If u want to start a petition, go see someone else

B. If u have a problem with the child porn allegations, go see someone else

C. If u fit under any of the above two categories, and it's really because u don't like the who musically, go see someone else

I'm neutral but isn't this whole debate centred around the fact it's not simply allegations but the fact he admitted guilt?

It's not about 'watching somebody else' .. I certainly will be doing that.

It's the fact that they are going to be headlining a festival which has such a great ethos behind it. This kind of marks all that for me. If there is anything like this surrounding an artist - then for me they should not be playing - let alone headlining.

No, it sounds like he was released on bail. There may be some confusion over the word caution, as he would have been cautioned at point of arrest and again in interview.

That's not the same as the caution, which already stated, is given at the conclusion of an investigation as a form of disposal.

This !

Well, getting back on topic - after such an epic thread, we seem to have ended up with the worst set of headliners since, I dunno, the last time The Who headlined?

I'm sure some have a higher opinion of the three than I do, but you could still agree that the ratio of excitement/interest to inspiration is incredibly skewiff!

Sorry Detective

If I were you I would hush up now buddy. Also why is it that when people who clearly have an understanding of the legal system in this country speak up to try and bring some clarification to the confusion that is sometimes talked about on such forums they are automatically police officers ?

He admitted to attempting to access a site with child porn, for research purposes. It wasn't a child porn site, it was a sting operation. There was no child porn there.

They searched his PCs and found nothing. Stupid thing to do sure.

Hes already headlined Glastonbury when he was on the sex offenders register.

You'll get to see all of the Chems most probably. That was my original plan as I couldn't see anyone that I hadn't seen before as appealing as The Who headlining.

I'm going to watch The Who.

There's a 30 min overlap, so will prob get 45 of the Chems (I'll see them/him again at Bestival anyway).

It's all personal opinion I reckon. For me personally

Can't wait for Foo Fighters, think they'l be brilliant but there's certainly an element of 'u know what ur gonna get' so maybe loses the excitement/anticipation

Kanye is the best of the 3 for me for the festival and what it stands for, I think they'l be a lot of talk and a lot of interest. Not sure it will necessarily come across well when it happens though.

The Who for me is a little boring based on the fact they've done it relatively recently, but no doubting they are a big headliner which I expect will please the most people of the 3

Foo Fighters are not really my type of music but I was going to watch them as all my mates will be, however I have since discovered Deadmau5 and am tempted to watch him instead or maybe catch 1/2 of both.

Kanye, Hahahahahah no. ( I'm sure many people will love it though )

The Who, really ? Again ! No

Luckily I am in the camp that believes the music at Glastonbury generally doesn't affect my time there. However apart from last year which I had a ticket for and then couldn't go at the last minute I think the music ( headliners anyway ) has been shit the last few years.

Yea, I guess Kanye is the closest to an innovative booked. The other two are a bit meat and two veg...
