A couple of facts to correct there:

- He's not actually on the sex offenders register (anymore). It was considered a comparatively minor offence so he was only on for 5 years.

- He was never accused let alone convicted of "owning" child porn. The caution was for using his credit card on a site that offered it, but apparently the Met Police found no evidence of any dodgy material on his computers.

That's why I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt - the Met will have done an extensive forensic examination of his computers etc and found nothing, though I fully understand why others have a problem with him.

While what you post is true, Townsend knew in advance of the police raid that the police raid was coming - so it gave him ample time to have a clear-out, if he needed to have a clear-out.

Also, his stories about why he was signing up to that site have been different at different times, with one of his claims proven absolutely false by a 3rd party he included in his stories.

What he was doing I don't know, but there's certainly reasons to keep suspicions.

Didn't he hand himself in as well?

Nope. He was arrested.

He admitted to using his credit card to sign up to the child porn site ... but the police had the evidence that he'd done that anyway - and he knew it (what evidence the police had had been all over the papers) - so not admitting it would have seen him go to court and be convicted.

Neil is there much truth to Noel/Weller then? What do you reckon?

I don't know anything about that part.

I do know from the past that Weller is very unlikely to do Glastonbury unless he has new material to show off - so does he have new material to show off?

To me, NGHFBs seems likely, but I have no info on that.

Well being of a certain age and having never seen them (missed them in 2007) im glad they are headlining, they will put on a show and if the weather gods are happy this time it will be a fantastic ending.

Neil deserves a pat on the back again for backing up the story so fast..As for Mr Townsends antics lets leave that to people that know the facts rather than getting the pitch forks out....

You spend a fair amount of time moaning about the posters on here. Got anything worthwhile to contribute or are you just as 'snobby' and 'pathetic' as those you deride?

Weller has a new album out, the singles of which are the first thing he's done that I've really liked since the Wild Wood era. But I think he'd be a weak sub, and I'm expecting a strong one (eg Noel).

Everything about this booking stinks. Will definitely be elsewhere . Would have rather it been mumfords or Coldplay than this

I think his disinterest shows, well it seemed to in 2007 but could have been the weather I guess, I found it pretty bland and dull but know others on here enjoyed it. My advice get plenty drunk before they start....

Anyone know what the chemical brothers are like these days? I've seen them a few times years ago and loved them but are they still good or have they lost interest in putting on a great show and just go through the motions?

Any guesses or knowledge for West Holts sunday headliner?

I just can't wait for the full poster now so we can start filling in clashfinder.

I've got no facts on how and why The Who have cropped up in that slot, but I do have an idea - that could be totally wrong of course.

The Who - if it is them (which I believe it is) - is clearly a recent booking because of that Paris show needing to be cancelled.

So either the festival have only just got their 3rd headliner for the 1st time, or someone dropped out, or Glastonbury have decided to change something about the top of the line-up. I'm thinking it might be the 3rd.

If so, I'm thinking that NGHFBs was originally booked to headline, and The Who have been added above them for some reason.

Two different possible reasons come to mind.

Firstly, it might be because The Who approached Glasto, wanting their last British show to be at Glasto, and Glasto found a way to slot them in.

Or secondly, because of the fuss about Kanye, the fest decided it needed a stronger headliner and so went and got The Who - knowing that Noel is chums with them and wouldn't feel snubbed to have them play above him.

As purely a guess, I think it's the last of those ... which would mean Noel is the sub, of course.

My guess is Grace Jones.

It is just a guess - I don't have any firm knowledge - tho it is based on something very well-sourced, tho I might have read far too much into something that was said to me.

(she's playing BST the week before, so it does seem very possible).

What about the "Foos are the only rock headliner" quote from Emily? Would NGHFB and The Who both be classed as rock?

Would be pretty c**tish of them to screw over 6000 hardcore fans, but i would certainly see them, incredible live

They would draw a crowd not far off Stones level too, which would fit in with expanding the pyramid capacity

It's not just the 28th gig, the next paris date is been moved and the Amsterdam dates are changing too. This is from the who forum.

-----

June 21 - Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland

June 23 - The O2 in Dublin, Ireland

June 26 - Hyde Park, London

June 28 - Glastonbury

June 30 - Le Zénith, Paris

July 1 - Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam

*************

The Paris gig on June 28th gets cancelled.

The Paris gig on June 29th gets moved to June 30th.

Will tickets with the June 29 date be accepted for the 30th with an option for a refund? I'm anxious to know since I bought 4 tickets.

Didn't realise shows were getting canceled...they should at least reschedule.

Brettredmayne have you had anything official from the ticket site you bought from?

That's just a who forum member, I'm going to glastonbury. Should have maybe edited it better

If Glasto have approached a band knowing they have other dates booked I've lost a little bit of respect for the Eavii. Not what I'd expect of them.

To be fair to Glasto, while they might have proposed something which might cause The Who to screw their fans if they accepted, everything about The Who deciding to screw their fans can only be down to The Who and not Glasto.

So you think it will still be June 1st and the who fans will be in limbo till then

Just seen this too

Mike Starcke just posted on Facebook that he got an email from Who management saying Amsterdam is being moved from July 1st to July 2nd.

So they are potentially screwing over way more than just the now seemingly cancelled paris gig.

Poor from them if true
