Random obscure theory - John Fogerty has played the festival before and absolutely nailed it, albeit not on the Pyramid stage. He's doing a tour focused on the early CCR albums (ie full of classics) and has a gap until 30th June.

This, this would be swell.. Anywhere. We can but hope

I feel like Kaiser Chiefs were a bit of a rogue choice for that one.. I can imagine there was a fair amount of disappointment

Yep, can't tell you how disappointed the guy next to me was. He'd convinced himself (and his wife!) that it was going to be the purple one!

No she does Taylor Kinney now

Every time I see this name, my mind picutres a Taylor Swift + Sleater-Kinney collaboration. Imagine that, the band that made Modern Girl and the artist that sang Love Story, working together.

Madonna's tour doesn't start till later and it starts in the U.S. I don't think she's very likely.

Closer we get I honestly think swift has (as on the rumour page) that sunday slot.

I don't agree that the tour dates put Madonna out of the running. I'd actually consider it LESS likely if the tour was over the Glasto dates - she clearly wouldn't do the same show at a festival as she would on tour and I don't see her rehearsing for Glastonbury while on tour. I can see Glastonbury being a warm up before she goes into rehearsals.

I doubt it'll happen but something made me stick £2 on it at Paddy Power. Just a bit suspicious at how UK heavy her promotion is this time around.

does Lady Gaga not count as "the likes of" Taylor Swift, this world is too complicated for me

Didn't you complain earlier today when someone said Taylor Swift and Rihanna were the same genre? They're just as similar to each other as Gaga and Swift are.

That's exactly what I thought

I'm predicting Madonna - would definitely help her shift tour tickets worldwide if she pulls it off. No interest in seeing her though. Kanye seems like a good bet for the other headliner. Swifty to play lower down than people are expecting.

I know Kanye West has had more of a presence in the UK this past week or so but the announcement is still atleast 4 weeks off, surely if he was playing Glastonbury these media appearances would've been a bit later?

"Hello, Brit Awards, Kanye here, I need you to move your ceremony to a few weeks later... because it's convenient for Yeezy, that's why!... OK, well the thing is, I'm being announced as a headliner for a festival that's already sold out... What do you mean? It makes perfect sense! Glastonbury is the centre of the universe, don't you people read efestivals?!

After reading some of the bollocks Kanye has said in thr past, he probably did say that.

As an aside, Who made up this name "Yeezy" for him too? I'd like to know. What does it mean?

That still doesn't mean anything to me. Yeezus - as in Jesus?!

I'll google it... I'm probably making myself look thick

Edit - It's the name of his album.

Got it.

Yep. The whole album and tour played up to the media portrayal of him acting like he thinks he's God. He even literally had a song on it called "I Am A God" :P

    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
    • Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.
    • Dug into Milkweed some more and this was a brilliant suggestion. Thank you 🙂   This will come as no surprise, but I have been told that there are some band substitutions to come.
    • Yeah, I think it's important to differentiate between a stage that's just a platform for the artist to walk on (which can be assembled fairly quickly and without too much difficulty), and the custom staging that you get in big productions where there's a whole world underneath.   Using the Eras tour as an example the stage extending out into the stadium field has all sorts - lifts that go up or down - down most importantly as this allows performers to enter or to leave the stage as needed. There's passageways to get from one part of the stage to another. There's what are effectively dressing rooms set aside for costume changes. There's spare instruments (and techs to look after them) so if something goes wrong above they can be swapped out in the space of seconds. There's even a track and dolly system running the full length of the stage so that Taylor can be moved from one end to the other faster than she'd be able to walk.   I don't know the specifics of the Madonna tour to the same degree but my understanding is that a lot of the same techniques are used.
