Noel Gallagher couldn't headline, much like Jack White couldn't. just because your former band was huge and you have a huge roster of hits under your belt doesn't make you a headliner

And, to add to this, Robert Pant.

Fleetwood Mac

AC/DC

Up and comer, not a clue who.

I reckon are nailed on and I am making a slightly educated guess with AC/DC (I think haha), wouldn't be surprised if the bloke from Bon Jovi was having a look at the festival with a vies to playing maybe, it's all very exciting stuff...

i don't think Lady Gaga will ever headline. before her last album i had her pegged as headlining in the next few years but the album was such a trainwreck and made her so irrelevant that i doubt she'll be on the list of wanted headliners. more likely for V or TITP i reckon

Yeah, thankfully Lady Gaga's day has gone.

While we're on the subject of pop, though, I think Taylor Swift might do sub or 3rd down. Obviously she's very money oriented, but the smart marketer knows that Glastonbury coverage will bump up iTunes sales and shift concert tickets. It's a question of whether she's happy enough at sticking with being more popular than God in the US.

Sambora's not in Bon Jovi anymore.

Can't see it. Not really her crowd and she has a huge stage show thing that goes on that she couldn't really have at Glastonbury.

he is isn't he? he took a break from touring with them but i'm pretty sure he's still part of the band (or at least, that's what the Bon Jovi camp are telling people - might be keeping it hush hush until a later date)

Oh. Maybe he is. Wikipedia says he is but I'm sure he was badmouthing them in the press since he stopped touring with them. Would be sort of a crazy thing to do to your employers.

Does anyone think The Libertines are in with a shout?

Not as headliners, Other Stage headliner would be more likely for them I'd have thought. Would be more likely to do T or R&L if they do festivals next year as they'd get better slots there.

yeah it definitely seems like he may have left but they've just chosen not to announce it yet, but at the moment he's still a member of the band as far as everybody's concerned

yeah i reckon either R&L or TITP will throw a bunch of money at The Libertines next year if they're still about

I dont know why Florence is being constantly mentioned. She is at least two albums away from being in contention unless her next one goes global which I highly doubt.

Lady Ga Ga - Echo what everyone else has said. No chance.

As sad as it makes me, AC/DC I doubt will ever play Glasto. They never play festivals and when they agreed to play Download it came with so many strings attached even Andy Copping the Download organiser came out and said never again. Insisting they brought their own stage (which was an awesome spectacle to be fair), not having their name on any festival merchandise and spinning the marketing so it appeared to be a separate AC/DC concert attached to the Festival showed what a bunch of divas they are. It's sad as I think an AC/DC set on the Pyramind would be truly legendary.

I would go with The Prodigy as Friday night headliners. New album coming out, draw massive crowds everywhere they play and they have headlined hundreds of festivals around the world. Based on the crowds in attendance this year, they would be a massive first night headliner and the Pyramid field will be packed. Definitely a band that have paid their dues and deserve the chance.

Saturday Night - Fleetwood Mac. Nailed on. Meant to be this year until John McVie became ill. Christine back in the band again. It's a no brainer and it will be glorious.

Sunday night is a tough one but I may go with the Foo Fighters for this one. Definite crowd pleasing Sunday night party written all over it. Pretty much ditto everything I said aboout The Prodigy. However should Radiohead playing The Bends in full be an option then i will gladly take that as a Sunday option that would win hands down!

i think The Prodigy will be another act that R&L / TITP will throw money at. The Prodigy's last show at R&L massively overshadowed Arctics who came after them and i've never seen a crowd get so rowdy. i can't really see them headlining Glastonbury anymore, especially if the new album's anything like their last (they've recently described it as 'violent sounding')

Since then Brian Johnson has said they'd be up for playing more festivals. They played SARSstock without all the extra stage hoopla.

Plus - Michael Eavis watched the band with Peter Mensch. Surprised this story hasn't gained more traction round these parts.

first time i've properly read what was said by Eavis and who the manager he was talking to was, and yeah it definitely does sound like it's AC/DC who he's talking about. don't think i'd go and see them myself as i'm not a fan but they'd definitely be a great booking (although i didn't think they'd go for another heavy / Download-esque band just a year after Metallica)

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
