reminiscent of 2011 but less severe. Bit rainy on Thursday/Friday, scorching hot on Sunday where I'll probably end up sunburnt.

Either way the 'at no time is a mudbath expected' line says it all for me.

Least we forget that the site was flooded for weeks before 2011 as well.

My second least favourite year because of the weather and my personal life at the time. The Friday night during U2 was terrible. Cold, wet and windy. I remember the rain going on for hours

I thought it added to the night, rain, dark, flares going off and buzzin.

Well, he can actually forecast the weather, I used to copy stuff off the internet.

But given his recent forecasting I'd go in windmilling.

Good weather related fighting technique the windmill manouver!

Yeah exactly - also a reason for my optimism this year. It would be ideal if we could get a few more hot/sunny days before it all kicks off.

Yep, I sacked the evening off halfway through U2 and called it a night. Seems sacrilegious...

Annoyingly it appears like it will be raining when I pitch my tent, being a late arrival.

You should have gone for worthy view- ha!

I hope it's okay for your arrival- they nearly always, always get the timing and duration of rain falls wrong, so hopefully you'll get lucky and avoid a down pour

2011 was basically the low point for weather. It's about as bad as five-day festival at the end of June should be. The issue is 97/98/05/07 - these were all freak weather occurrences. All unexpected, all one in a thousand or more chances. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't happen again, just they're unlikely.

But those events are scarred in our minds because we lived through them. But they are not in the minds of most weather forecasters. So even when the forecast is for 'bad weather' they basically mean 2011-level weather. 97/98/05/07 "mud bath" weather would be forecast with warnings over freak weather conditions and such.

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
