Always get a bit nervous at the door at WHP, seems a lot more thorough than similar nights elsewhere but understand their issues with licensing mean it's a necessity. Not much fun though.

Glad it was a good night though seems to follow the WHP trajectory of getting better as the those who particulary there for the music clear off...

Anybody listening to his residency on the BBC? Some nice stuff. Last night he was joined by one Mr Kieran Hebden

Doubt he will play two years in a row, but if he does and headlines somewhere I dont think the Pyramid will be keeping from going to check him out this year!

He's dropped out of the 6 Music Festival on Sunday due to illness. Gutted as I fancied seeing him after only recently giving him a listen. Have to be either The Charlatans or Macabees instead

I liked it when Four Tet gave him shit for sounding too much like the shipping forecast.

I'm also glad Jon hates that "poor man's Henry Rollins" photo, as it's used all the time and I also hate it, doesn't seem to match his personality. I just want him to cheer up whenever I see it!

I'm sure he played some music too.

Can't imagine he will be there this year, his Brixton show in April is the end of his album tour, would imagine he would be going off to write a new album. I have tickets for Brixton though so I'm easy, went to see him at Bestival in 2013 on my own and he was my favourite act of the entire weekend

He's booked for Electric Picnic at the end of August mate.

Incredible in the Glade last year. Real high point. Would be very welcome back of course.

For those that haven't heard it. Bear with it... and give it a few goes.

I have been enjoying this over the weekend, but its been wrecking my head as to what it was reminding me of (of course with the exception of the obvious in Open Eye Signal itself)

But it has finally clicked with me (I think). Its like a highly evolved, sophisticated, progressive, modern mix/take on Oakenfolds Perfecto mix of U2s Lemon

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
