Metallica 2014

I also vouch for Florence on Other being a huge crowd. To the extent where it was difficult to get past the stage due to the traffic.

I second (third) that. It was rammed front to back. I have a great photo somewhere.

That aside, i was there for my (then) young daughter's benefit.

She does indeed shout and yell rather than sing, does Flo.

also just noticed on their setlist that they played a Frayed Ends Of Sanity outro for Seek & Destroy. they must really want to play Frayed Ends Of Sanity! shame it only seems to be in one of these By Request setlists

Ulrich said recently that if he could play one song they don't often play, it would be Frayed Ends.

What are some of these people voting thinking? Why vote for MOP? They are DEFINITELY playing it either way!

yeah the people voting are obviously morons as all of the setlists look almost identical to a regular Metallica setlist. they might as well have not even done the By Request thing

They're giving the impression that they're doing something different that people might be more willing to shell out for while actually not putting much extra effort into providing a different service at all. Neither the band or their promoters are dummies.

it's a weird one because obviously for a lot of people going to these shows it'll be their first time seeing Metallica, so they'll want to see Master Of Puppets, Enter Sandman etc. because the band has such a massive back catalogue i guess it was almost inevitable that they'd end up playing all the 'hits'. shame though. although i suppose if the band REALLY wanted to play The Frayed Ends Of Sanity, they would've just done it rather than have this whole 'By Request' thing

If they want to play it so much why don't they just play it in a non-by request setlist some time?

The other year Muse did something like this; you could vote on songs to play and they'd play one of the top 5. Of course almost every gig ended up with the top 5 being hits they play every gig. People suck.

The flaming lips did the same. The gig ended up being full of rarities.

So what you actually meant was, metallica and muse fans suck.

But we knew that anyway.

indications are that Metallica is going to happen.

I can't guarantee this is correct, but I'd say I think it's more than 95% likely.

Holy fuck this has caused a seismic wave in my groin area!

Do you expect them to be the mysterious sat pyramid headliner? Or Other stage?

Very interesting. Absolute coup for the festival to be fair, I wonder if this (near) confirmation is a sign of a possible line up coming out soon :P (I'm only kidding, well partly)

Is it a coup for the festival? Or a Coup for Metallica given how much they've wanted to play :P

Doubt it. Or they'd just be doing Sandman and maybe one other.

Foreign territory for Metallica. And the festival. Such a fresh and ballsy booking if true.

Yeh I wouldn't be upset with a set of 'the hits' really. I really think it's gunna be something special

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
