It's not ignorance - it's true. When they were announced I'd never heard of them or any songs and that isn't because I only listen to mainstream or some assumption like that. Had a quick look at some songs on YouTube and still nothing. Take it they are a pretty current band who have passed me by. Good luck to them. I'm sure they have lots of fans. I was just thinking for me -them, Elbow and Kasabian/Stone Roses would be meh.

Not to mention a career that spans a decade and one of the few bands of the noughties who people will actually remember (can you name another artist that broke through since the 90s ended who have made enough impact to be remembered long term?)

interviews with zane lowe on radio 1 and jo whiley on radio 2 and appearing on graham norton. What more can an act do to be famous/big enough to be the size of a pyramid headliner?

Yeah i was half cut when i wrote that and expecting such responses - i probably didn't make the intended point as clear as i might. It's not that they're musical gurus and it wasn't an arguement about whether arcade fire are good enough or deserving to headline... Just that they are really quite well known in the mainstream (which was referenced in the previous post). I could have gone on to say that they are pretty critically acclaimed also but that wasn't really the point.

If, on one hand some people say that kasabian (regardless of the value of their music) are less interesting a headliner due to overexposure and others say 'who are arcade fire' (to be fair that wasn't the case with the post i was replying to) i don't see how a potential newish headliner can win (though either would/will probably draw a reasonable so i guess they do).

Re tony having heard a little and not been interested of course that's fine - but the point was that you had heard enough to check them out and decide you weren't interested, they weren't unknown to you.

2011 had the worst weather imaginable it gladly jumped from one extreme to another & as a result it was impossible to get accustomed to the conditions which just made the switch all that more unbearable.

I remember seeing a comedian on the sunday, in a desperate effort to avoid sunstroke, and he put it best 'What a weird weekend got Trenchfoot Friday, Frostbite Saturday and Sunstroke Sunday'.
