Just seen David Cameron give his speech on the passing of Nelson Mandela. I remember Ricky Ross predicting it almost word for word in the acoustic tent this year. He also had some interesting views on what a young David Cameron thought and said about Nelson Mandela............

Yep, I think there is going to be some nauseating times ahead as c**ts like cameron et al milk this for all it's worth.

The party that campaigned on the slogan "if you want a nigger for a neighbour vote Liberal or Labour".

The party that called the most just moral fight there is 'terrorism', which actively supported the apartheid regime, while Maggie's hubby coined it to a massive extent from what was little more than slavery.

The hypocrisy from Cameron and his chums this morning is toe curling.

I remember in the mid 80s Kinnock/ Hain / Caborn were attacked relentlessly by the right when they campaigned for his release

Very weirdly, I've just read that there was no mention of Mandela's name in any parliamentary business (on the floor of the house, in committees, etc) until 1983.

Then again, that matches my own experiences. I took an interest in the anti-apartheid campaign from the late 70s and went on a protest or three in the early 80s, and as far as i can remember I had no awareness of Mandela until Special AKA released THAT song.

(In my defence at what sounds like gross ignorance, it was the issue that concerned me and not personalities - but I do know I was aware of other characters such as Biko [tho probably only via the song], Oliver Tambo, Joe Slovo, and others).
