Genesis were part of my childhood so to see them a few years ago was amazing. IF there was to be another reunion (and it would be a massive if) I think an S Club 7 reunion would fit Glastonbury better.

Oddly, I saw Steve Hackett a few weeks ago, reckon his current Genesis Revisited would fit better. Genesis themselves would expect to headline but it would never work. Hackett could come in lower down the bill, Avalon maybe?

Although I do have to rather shamefully admit a certain amount of 'like' for Mr.Collins' stuff, or at least some of it anyway and not to mention the somewhat (in)famous Bam bam bam, babam babababababam bit [ # ] of course, there's no such thing as a Genesis reunion without me old mate Mr.Gabriel coming along to the party I'm afraid ;) Whilst Mr.C is more than a bit of a tw@t more than an OK drummer in my book, Genesis without Mr.G really isn't Genesis at all and as for Genesis with that ex-Stiltskin Wilson bloke, it was so unbelievably and embarrassingly NOT Genesis that I genuinely can't even begin to understand how anyone ever thought that it was even remotely close to being a good idea

I was very tempted by the previous reunion but for several reasons decided not to risk destroying amazing memories of the Invisible Touch Tour @ (the real :P) Wembley Stadium in 1987. By almost all accounts a very good decision and all that as the gig at Twickers wasn't exactly one of the best to say the very least. However, in the (I rather sadly suspect very unlikely event) that Mr.Gabriel decides it's time to revisit the past, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that I'll be doing whatever may be necessary in order to be there on the night !

[ # ] The Gorilla version or even better still the original and most awesome Miami Vice version being the absolute best of course. The Gorilla kinda fails as the track is so obviously edited but the original Miami Vice 'fast cars and drum p0rN' version is so d@mn good that I just couldn't resist the urge to take a wee break from typing and wander over to Mr.Youtube for a li'l 'personal' moment

Back in the early 80s In The Air Tonight was a refreshing bit of something different, but since then it's been copied and ripped off uproariously by anybody who's ever shared a room with a drum machine and a synth, and now it just sounds like every other bit of dross. And I really can't take Phil's whiney voice any more - his drumming was fine, but as noted, he doesn't drum any more since an operation on his neck badly affected his hands.

So if you want to see Chester Thompson (not a bad drummer, it has to be said) banging away behind a diminutive whiner gurning at the front of the stage, playing the best of 80s MOR this land has to offer, then this is the Glasto highlight for you!

OTOH a bit of Peter Gabriel revisiting So (or indeed any of his back catalogue) would go down extremely well. If Phil could still drum, I might permit him to drum along to that, if he keeps a hat on.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
