Question for glastonbury veterans..

Just been looking at some of the older lineups for glastonbury on wikipedia. In 1992 it shows Carter USM, Shakespears Sister and Youssouu N'Dour topping the bill on the pyramid. Is this actually in the right order, did Carter USM headline the pyramid stage?!

Appreciate the early 90s could have been a bit of a blur for some but anyone remember?

I am a huge Carter USM fan (seen them 6 times I think over the years) and it was what 1st made me think about going to Glastonbury as I heard they were playing in 92. Only took me 11 years to getting around to go!

Not the best quality but video of it here

I know that they fell out with Michael as they had their set cut short as other bands had over-run during the day.

Also their Glasto performance was featured on the In Bed With Carter VHS video (which I'm sure I've got somewhere)

Ha ha. me too, that’s well funny. I had this carter t-shirt I loved, had it on one morning and me ma's face was classic when she read unstoppable sex machine. The top was no more.... I wish I still had it. It was my all back then.....that and my 1992 Love Album cassette, which I still have. she never got that from me...Might bring that up when I see her later and demand a new Carter t-shirt.

I read that they had a plan to shoot out loads of little balls with their logo on that they were going to shoot out over the crowd as a finale with cannons, but due to the previous band overrunning they were not able to go back for the encore and perform this feat, leading to a violent confrontation backstage between Jimbob and Michael Eavis.

Carter rule. They still provided one of the best, most manic and amazing gigs of my life :)

My first festival- reading 94, as a wide eyed 18 yr old, saw a quite wonderful t shirt- terrorvision, which proudly announced on the back- 'fuck you and fuck your tent'. My mum was well pleased when I returned. Now I think about it, I only ever saw that shirt a couple if tunes before it got lost in the wash

it was the Wicker Man burning year! Just checked the programme, which has been signed by the Ozrics who we bumped into whilst we were hitching off site on the Monday. It was also the year of the Sky Riders - mental motorbike riders on high wires!

My sister and I saw Jimbob in 2008 (I thnk) in the Avalon field? Or maybe Leftfield? He said about his wellie foot and how unpleasant it was, which my sister agreed with as she had managed to get terrible wellie foot when we were dancing to Utah Saints in the mud the previous night :)

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
