11 oddest glasto bookings

So long as a crowd of people enjoyed it, it's not an odd booking at Glastonbury. I haven't read the article so don't know what they included but assume they mentioned ENO opening the pyramid a few years ago with a bit of Wagner's Ring Cycle - that was absolutely brilliant, that was.

Rod Stewart in 2002 was pretty odd (terrible). I have a vague recollection of seeing East 17 in 2009 - though drink had been taken. But The Shibusashirazu Ochestra are the most brilliantly bizarre thing I've seen there. Hundreds of mad Japanese acrobats, dancing schoolgirls, brass sections, people doing yoga. Unbelievable sight.

this kind of highlights for the people who go to Glastonbury and still love it (hi russy), why they still love it.

It's hard to thing of anyone.. a n y o n e, who would be out of place on the line-up

you beat me to it. most unbelievable headlining decision ever. and it's not as if she/they were a late replacement, either. REM, Manics (off their commercial breakthrough), and them...even Fun Lovin Criminals in the penultimate slot was a surprise, even tho they seemed to play a stormer.

It could have been worse, I chose not to watch Skunk Anansie (on account of them being shit) and went to see the Sneaker pimps at the new bands tent, only to discover that the female vocalist had left and the keyboard player (or guitarist, not sure which, but he looked like a lanky Brian Molko) had taken over. By the 3rd song there must have been about 200 people remaining and it was possibly the most disappointing end to a festival you could have, saved only by the fact that it kept me a safe distance from Skunk Anansie.
